She said she was call coloured in her country I didn’t understand at the time even though she and I were the same complexion but I didn’t get into it, we took some photos with my brothers friends. After we came back I noticed she said that she’d wanted to cut out the person out of the picture because he was too dark skin. I was in 😮then I remembered that my mother and the person she wanted to cut had the same complexion. As young soldier at the time, i remember that no matter our challenges at the time we welcomed our South African brothers from ANC. We Gave the office spaces in Villa Alice in Luanda. Military training camps in Viana and in several provinces. Gave the military training and logistics. By 1980 the Apartheid military was bombing the Southern Angola, Cunene and Huila regions. Our people sacrificed with their lives for these South Africans. We had no time to heal... Because our slogan was: Angola can't be totally free if Namibia and South Africa are not free...we should have demanded reparations from South Africa Gov. for the billions in destruction of our economy in southern part of Angola. But we never did in the name of African brotherhood. Fast forward...when South Africans became independent, they never recognized we helped them. Very ungrateful people. When they started the xenophobic madness in their country Angolans were targeted. What ungrateful people. Specially because the same ANC we sacrificed for, was in power when our people were being targeted. That is why our Government does not encourage big volume business exchange with S.Africa. It is unfortunate but this is true. Also we advise our people to be extra careful when they travel their. Because it seems tio us that they love whites and Indians and hate fellow black people. These people they ignore that in 1500s (sixteenth century) Portuguese, and then Dutch colonizers, who brought black thousands of slaves from Angola, to start the Cape colony. Update yourself with the story, her mother was recently legally found by our Home Affairs department to have participated in identity theft. The young lady was forced to withdraw from the competition because of her parents' crimes which was unfortunate to her. The mother was found to not be South African but Mozambican and hence led to the investigation. The problem with this story is that emotions and thoughts went before facts. Chidimma Adetshina was not born in South Africa, the records on our Governments Home Affairs show that her mother came with her as an infant, our Government stressed that she did no crime but her parents unfortunately did. She had to withdraw from the competition not because of a stupid petition but because the Miss South Africa Pageant organisers had to ask her to give consent to the Department of Home Affairs to investigate her citizenship after pressure from a Political Party (PA) that opened a criminal case on the organisation. Chidimma agreed easily because she herself never knew that she was illegally documented in South Africa, until the results came back. With that she was forced to resign from the Pageant than to continue doing fraud. Facts help a lot before becoming a keyboard warrior. The young lady was unfortunate to suffer all of this but on the other side, this helped uncover a string of corruption on our government officials in charge of immigration and visas.
