The only commentary people generally get is during a test lap so to receive it during an actual real life race is unique and I suspect will pull in the viewers. Great run Will. Controlling a Porsche is not easy at all. But I loved the effort in the counter-braking and the control out of the corners, the ipax also helps to unbalance the car. A big upgrade with the RTX4090 really notices the quality of the graphics and fluidity of the image. Guaranteed an excellent investment that will bring us even more of a realistic environment. And of course for Will I like the simulation even more. I loved a big hug from Portugal 🤩👍👍👍👍🙏🫂

Pretty awesome, the image quality is stunning! Just my two cents on the driving in these Cup car beasts - use 2nd gear even in the slow stuff, will make it easier on traction and reduce wheel spin / eat less rear rubber. It still got enough torque in low rev… And as you know it has a lot less DF so inevitably understeers at times, so ‘slow in fast out’ approach works a charm in these beauties! Best car in the sim IMO. Great video Will 🍻

The Porsche 911 GT3 R doesn't like braking and turning at all. You will find much more stable cornering if you can be off your brakes before you begin to turn in, turn in and then accelerate to bring the car hard into the apex and you'll feel it bite, at least that's how I enjoy driving it. I love the Porsche 911 GT3 R 2016 in the sim. Your set up is insane, very nice job putting together the entire experience. I think this is hands down the best sim rig experience I have seen on YT. Truly inspiring to see what levels of emersion can be achieved while not wearing the oven mask AKA VR headset.

@LievenSerge2 жыл бұрын
As explained in the handbook of Gran Turismo 1, I would suggest to enter the turns late and look for a late apex with the tail heavy Porsche in order to have a shallower exit. However that is not a tactic used under pressure obviously, but when you have some air behind you this way you can utilize the straights to their maximum and essentially have less time in turns but sharper turns - which the Porsche is good in anyways. I would like to know how you think of it and hope you will try. Also when the Porsche does its dance on an approach to a turn I fell like I have to really brake hardest in those small time frames when the car feels planted and give it some room when its getting unstable, the Porsche doesn't like to be handled roughly but rather cautiously :D

Great video as usual. One thing , you might want to lower irl lights brightness a bit so your GoPro can expose for the screens better. Then use the exposure on your go pro to let the peaks of the brighter parts of the screen white out. To get that irl hdr peak brightness that you would get in the real world. Your screens are probably not bright enough ( not 2000 nits hdr I presume) If this was real the sun light areas and sky would over expose as the cameras try to balance for the gray road and a bit of the interior. If your interior lights are lower intensity they will under expose a bit more on the blacks and effectively sell that real exposure where the sun outside burns out and the dark areas inside are deep. I believe that if you do this you will overcome that retro projection gray feeling that some of the whites on the screen have. And the entire image will look even more photorealistic. ( if that’s even possible ) Anyhow. Great work as usual
@boostedmedia2 жыл бұрын
I’ve experimented with this quite a bit. I’m trying to simulate what the driver sees more so than what a helmet cam looks like because nobody wants to watch overexposed footage, even if it looks “realistic”. That’s why I still run some image stabilisation too.
@TIEVR2 жыл бұрын
@@boostedmedia sure, don’t over do it. But what’s not correct I think is that the buttons on your wheel ping brighter compared to the sun flares you see on screen as the car turns into direct sunlight. The outside world highlights should be the highest peak of brightness. And your interior be a percentage dimmer. ( even if a human can adjust its eyes quite well , there is always a correct expose balance ) Anyway. I just think there is a bit of a missing punch to the screens and the sides feel just a tad gray. So a touch of overall exposure balance might do the deed and break that retro projection feel and push it into photo-real.
@Paulwhittingham2 жыл бұрын
You could just drop your led or room light or whatever it is down a notch so your wheel and hands are slightly dimmer. This would also benefit the wheel and hands etc picking up more of the tones given off from the screens. Another great video btw :)

I am objectively bad at sim racing but, just what I noticed, you have a habit of drifting towards the apex well before the turn in point on a number of corners, and it really extends the amount of time you spend getting the car to straighten up on corner exit so you can put the power down, I do the same thing like 80% of the time and it’s something I was told to look for once and all of the sudden noticed I was doing it all over the track 😂 there are likely some cars that this works for though so perhaps you have been driving those lately!

This is how I Played GTR2 around 2010-ish, I was super into sim games. Too bad I didnt care to make videos back then lol. I had three projectors and used three backlight walls to get it seamless. I HAD to have everything life-sized, and it felt like it. I even had an actual camaro dash at my game station and a small monitor connected to other software so the speedometer was physically in front of me. I also had made my own shifter out of a ps2 joystick. Oh the memories. I think this was still all windows 7, dont even know if gtr2 and all those background apps would work now on win10/11. Im tempted to build another setup but i dont have a spare room like i used to. Can any new games even output the dash data to an external monitor or actual physical gauges?
