Hi Cody I’m looking at Muse at the moment but i cant seem to decide between the S and the 2. Would i be better off getting the 2 if my focus is on training/improving meditation? What would i miss a part from sleep tracking on the S? Thank you!
@CodyRallMD12 күн бұрын
The Muse S is a bit more comfortable. It's also easier to get a good signal because it wraps around your head. That being said, If Muse 2 fits your head okay, it's very capable.

Awesome video! Do you know a head device that measures the same biofeedback as this device, but one where you dont have to meditate to recieve the data?
@CodyRallMD12 күн бұрын
You can still do that with the Muse using the Mind Monitor program: mind-monitor.com/. Here's a video where I break it down: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpu7qJZ_qceIjbc

Is it possible to configure the Muse to provide positive audio feedback only when reaching advanced meditator states, like those of monks?

Can the feedback sounds be turned off while doing a session?

Yes you can turn the volume down. You can also do recordings without neurofeedback with the Mind Monitor program off the app store

My prior understanding was that peak alpha was really difficult to change! This based on Dr. Martijn Arns ADHD work, which may have been superseded. But I think he wrote that the only way to reliably move it was pain! So what do we do with this peak alpha data (which in any case has always been extractable from the Muse, e.g. through Myndlift) if it doesn't respond to simple reward based operant conditioning through biofeedback? You imply rather loosely that eating your greens and getting some fresh air is enough to get it to increase - I'm not sure about that. Incidentally, I think that Dr. Arns did not find PA to correlate with ADHD status, though it may correlate with a certain subtype of it.

why is MUSE not innovating their hardware and bringing out new headband since years?
@CodyRallMD12 күн бұрын
Most of the work lately has gone into data analysis and building out the app. I'm sure some new hardware will be coming at some point

@CodyRallMD can u show how one can use with muse 6th wet electrode ?
@digitalperson10811 күн бұрын
I am curious. My first muse, I forget the model, but the one that hooked over your ears…was unreliable. I would begin a session and reach almost constant chirping birds. I was very regularly meditating with the muse back then, but could not buy that I was that good, I am no ghandi lol. Their support had no answers, just had me rest the app a few times and it never resolved. Are these new bands and app, more reliable?

Which device do you think is best to track brain waves and things like glucose and blood pressure?so far im considering mendi or muse because you can sleep in it.

Muse for Brain Waves. Levels for Blood Glucose. Classic pressure cuff for blood pressure.

This is really cool and I'd love to talk to you about this. Really? The science is far surpassed what you are presenting here and I'd love to update some things. There's over 20 of these brain states now in different ways to manually shift into them using the technology you're talking about and all sorts of other ways.
@CodyRallMD13 күн бұрын
Yeah that's awesome! Seems like Peak Alpha and ERP measurements have the most science behind them for now. But I'm sure more and more will come along. Exciting times!

@CodyRallMD look into Dr Jeffrey Thompson's work, there's like twenty two different brain states at least, and phase modulation with his work that keeps things calm. He's discovered a bunch of them, lots of them still need studied.
@burtjee9 күн бұрын
@chrisbe111 - could you share?
@chrisbe1118 күн бұрын
@burtjee yes. Dr Jeffrey Thompson's work. He discovered many different brainstates and uses phase modulation, which helps lesson the stress and the brain. Flow states and the Default Mode Network, Epsilon and Lambda. I bet with the red equipment we could find so many more.

These devices are like shooting a radar gun on a city and trying to calculate the average speed of every vehicle and everyone walking in it. Until there is a method of mapping the entire brain and every neuron this tech will be redundant.

@PabloLucio9 күн бұрын
Could you explain why? I was thinking about getting one, but I am reading bad comments about it
@jujjuj76769 күн бұрын
@@PabloLucioThe video specifically states how would u like a headband that can give you insights on the health of your brain day to day. This is bullcrap. Just seeing the surface brainwaves do zero to tell you the health or for that matter anything other then ur brain is working. Its equivalent to someone saying you can attach a multimeter to ur car hood and by measuring the current tell how healthy ur engine is. Its just silly.. You have better results from getting a cheap EKG and even those are limited in scope they have 12+ sensors spread across the body. This one has 1...maybe 2 at most that are only in the path of a cheao headband. The only waves it gets are gonna show ur alive and rough very rough activity of movements. That's it.. You can't even use it to move ur mouse effectively. For it to be effective or responsive u need more sensors to look like doc on back to the future or you need to get under the skull with surgery. 😊 ( but its fun to see so if that's all ur doing its a fine purchase for novelty)

I think when people talk about the effects food have on them, they're referring to the inflammation that causes brain fogginess. Everyone is different and some people are sensitive to high PUFA oils, gluten, eggs, dairy, peanuts/legumes, etc. I'm working on not dismissing a person's personal experience and instead try to listen and understand them.
