I know shes an evil doctor and mercy is a good doctor, so i guess i chalked it up to Moria doing sus shit with sick people to create progress and learn. (lots of past respected doctors did fucked up shit to people to learn more about the human body) mercy find this revolting and judges her for it and she claps back by basically saying "if only we were all so self righteous to do nothing"

So, it's been implied she won't die from age, meaning she has the entitlement of patience, vs someone like Moira who doesn't. They're the situation where one can be ethical, but slow, while other needs results quickly, even if it's not ethical.

One easy way to learn about it would be to systematically damage certain parts to see exactly what does what. As that would be incredibly fuck up real doctors use the collective data from thousands of patients from hospitals all over the world to extrapolate the results. That process is slow and requires filtering out the conflicting data from external factors Moira argues that even if it will be understood eventually for the ones that are sick its a cold comfort, that is what it means to be entitled to patience. She thinks that Mercy can argue about morality because it isn´t his family that its dying of incurable sickness that she would be doing exactly what Moira is doing.

Most of what Moira does is immoral or dangerous because there is nobody to "check" if subjects are in pain. But I agree in general, giving "consciousness" to an animal that doesn't have it in the first place is worth every pain that animal would suffer during the process. As long as it's not so dangerous that the mortality rate is too high.

Whether it's immoral or not depends on whether the "test subject" consented to the experiment or not while being made aware of all the possible consequences of it. And I doubt Moira's test subjects have a choice most of the time. Mercy insists that her methods in general should not be. Also kinda meh, but definitely not as bad as Moira's bs. You don't get to decide for others what's best for them, no matter how much u think u know better. Moira being a psychopath though, she doesn't care how much damage she does in the process, and she'll never understand others' pov... 😩

To give a being a "conscious" is to make the aware of almost everything, of their past, future, their existence. It could be absolutely dreadful. Like she said, some people can't wait 30 years for a vaccine to something killing them now. Reasearch without ethics can progress at a very frightening pace... But it's monstruous. That's Moira's point of view : The end justify the means.

Mercy and Moira have not one but two spays that match up, and in both sprays they are uncharacteristically smiling at each other. One has them looking into each other's eyes and smiling, with an "about to kiss" vibe. May have speculated as to what this means, since both characters seem to hate each other. Reading into sprays is a bit of a stretch, but about the time Moira was released there were comments from the devs and the voice actresses about Mercy and Moira having a history. Looking for a link, but a "intense" relationship was described, and it was implied one or both hurt the other emotionally. To some it sounded more like a bad breakup than anything.
