It’s driving me crazy that New Pornographers isn’t on every modern rock Canadian radio station all the time.

Thanks for pointing this out. Seriously...it is great. I guess for me the thing is it fades well into the background so it is less noticeable than, say, the bass line for "Rescue Me" by Fontella Bass. The bass OWNS that tune. (Not a musician; just a music fan.)

Oh man, you have LOT of gems to explore with the New Pornographers & Carl A.C Newman ! Glad you found them. Saw this tour early 2020 in San Francisco at the Filmore, right before the lockdowns. Only show I saw since then was Bob Mould at someplace, also in SF. A friend got the tickets & drove, so I forget where it was.

Eric Lesinski In fairness, they’re primarily playing for a radio audience that will only hear them. But also, I really think Neko changes the dynamic of the group in ways beyond her clear vocal prowess.

It doesn't sound very much different from the studio recording, except for Carl's whooing, which is too loud and distracting.

I am glad someone else noticed this. Agree it's in the original track but it's back in the vocal mix where it doesn't distract from the gorgeous main harmonies. Still an amazing song, one of the loveliest powerpop groove tracks in recent memory.

Weird comment. Seems like every New Pornographers video people need to make comments about the female band members. Comparing them, almost creepily obsessing over them, or criticizing them.

Kaveh Maguire Firstly, I didn’t notice that Simi was off. Secondly, I don’t know who Simi is. Thirdly: If someone is criticized, and gender is not mentioned as the reason for the criticism, then why bring gender into the convo?
