How different is the bolt to the 85? I always felt the 85 bolt when closed was too close to the stock

Seemed like the S20 issue with the 5 round magazine that it just didn’t feed the bullets in some cases… Had the same issue, since I swapped the 5rd mag out for the 10rd it hasn’t happened again 🙌

Exactly my thoughts. For a european company and mainly aimed at europeans really bad calibre offerings. No 6.5x55 , no 7x64 , 7x57 , 8x57 , 9.3x62 , 9.3x66 i would like to see 6.5x68 and 8x68 but they seem to be mainly focused on USA market

🤯 If they were only targeting the U.S. Market, which it appears that you are right, then they missed the boat! You can't even find Ammunition for the 338's for the last 3 years (as well as the 7mm-08) and very few people are buying the 338 WM or terribly overbore Nosler cartridges from anyone! No one needs a 375 H&H here, unless they are going to Africa (which isn't all that many people and if I was going, I would prefer a gun chambered in the 375 Ruger anyway)! While the 7mm Remington Magnum and 300 Winchester Magnum are more popular (though the 7mm RM is getting stiff competition from the 7mm prc), alot of people want guns with a handy 22" barrel - not 24" and 26" barrels - especially in an ultralight rifle! Since heavier bullets for caliber is "the current hot trend", they also should have put the 7mm Remington Magnum in a 1 in 8 twist rate, like they did their 6.5 Creedmore and 6.5 prc! Getting rid of the 30-06, 270 Winchester, and 25-06, along with the Short Magnums (270 and 300 wsm - especially the popular 300 wsm) was just way too much of a change! I don't have the data of what they sell, but I find it very hard to believe that the 270 Winchester, 30-06 Springfield, and 300 wsm aren't selling better than the 338 Winchester Magnum, 7mm-08 Remington, 375 H&H, or what the 28 Nosler will do? This time I think Sako missed the mark! I do like my Sako TRG-S, 75's, and 85 (Finlight II), as is! Again, most of the changes were good, except for the ejection port - thanks to some stupid people that don't know how to mount a scope right or cycle the action (They were complaining that the cartridge being ejected was hitting their scope - but of course it will if you use low bases and mount a huge scope with extending tourettes on any rifle - but who is stupid enough to do that on an ultralight rifle? 🤪 )! I am not sure why they changed the safety, but I thought the other changes were good (like the picatinny rail and even though I like the trigger setting on my existing Sako's now, for example, I probably wouldn't make any adjustments even if I could)! 🤷‍♂️

@@ronlowney4700 My local gun shop down under in the Sako 85's had biggest sales in 6.5x55 , 30-06 , 308 , 270 win , 7mm rem mag , 300 win mag..... All others calibers was a wait for them as they were a special order. 85 series did have issues with ejecting but in certain calibers and configurations , i had few friends with the issue and they tried everything to fix it to no avail. Went back to SAKO and no issues. Their problem is the location of the manual ejector & the ejector slot in the bolt body. It is located at the bottom of the bolt when the bolt is in it's fully opened position. They say the 90 has no issues no longer

😎 I own a Sako 85 in a 270 Winchester, topped with a 2.5 to 8 Leupold, and I haven't had any problems whatsoever! I mounted the scope myself, too! Right out of the box, with the 150 grain Nosler ABLR factory loads, it shot a 5 shot 1 1/4" group at 300 yards! I Love the Rifle! 🥰

@@ronlowney4700 I had a 85 Bavarian in 270 win , shooting 130gr SST's was getting .7 MOA at a 100m, never measured groups further than that but the deer fell dead. I sold it to get a Sauer 404 in 270 win, mainly due to the fact that i can have one rifle and just buy additional barrels if need be. Trigger adjustments are nice on the Sauer as the Sako was always heavy for me.
