I bought everything from your links I never got my modded Saturn yet but I got my Saroo. I ordered it with everything but on the back it only says I only got Saroo Ss HD loader cd-ver. Jp-EU-GB are marked red and everything else is not marked off Ram card 1mb 4mb 8m Memory card ext. Did yours come marked off red ? Because I couldn't test it out because I didn't get my Saturn yet

I don't understand the point of this comment. The Saroo works without modding the console at all. So if you have a Saturn with a bad disc drive, then it makes no sense to mod it further into another form factor that still requires a Saroo unless that's absolutely what you want,

I got a Saroo recently and with the newer update it can play difficult games like Street Fighter Zero 3 or X Men vs Street Fighter and no problems at all. Mine cost about 1800 MXN or 90 USD plus I got an optional pink case with a nice Sakura Wars label. P.S. My Saturn is a Japanese 1 model brown color but I am seriously thinking about getting the modified Saturn shown in this video, the included modern external PSU is quite a nice upgrade plus it cost half the price I paid for my model 1 Japanese Saturn in MX. I use the Bitfunx Saturn HDMI adapter when playing in an HDTV and it looks good no issues so far but I prefer to play in CRT if possible.

So glad I kept my Saturn and games. ;-) Mind you, the memcard loader would be very handy. Not impressed with that selection of included games though: not even counting Japanese games that should have been imported there's no Burning Rangers, no Panzer Dragoon Saga, no Virtua Cop 2, no Baroque (okay, that's Japanese but there is an excellent fan translation now) No Dragon Force, no Shining the Holy Ark, yeah, not good enough imo.

Been using Saroo for 6 month now and it is getting better and better. Not 100% games run (Virtua Fighter crashes when loading a combat, Daytona USA is fine on the first track and then crashes when loading 2nd race...) but about 90% of my games run perfectly ! Updates are now coming every 2 month from creator TPUNIX, it is now firmware 0.4 and can handle multi-disc. Only downside for the moment is the gamelist that will appear by the way the games have been added but not alphabet. Hopefully an upgrade will come soon. Finally don't forget to either load a game via C button and if it doesen't work then start it with Z button that will load the saturn menu and then start the game 😊.

To play Daytona USA you need to do some configuration (it's on my channel). To sort the game list you will need to this with Windows, but also there's another custom firmware that does automatically.

One note for MSH vs SF - it already had super fast loading thanks to the 4MB RAM cart. Similarly for X-Men vs SF, Zero 3, and I believe Vampire Savior.

@BakiX I do have a Satiator. It's a great device and nice for loading games internally in the Saturn, but from time to time when I reset or switch the Saturn off I get the "game not suitable" error on power on and it takes a few reset attempts to clear. Mad P does a good review of it!

@BakiX I guess the Saroo, apart from being cheaper also allows you to use the expansion card for MPEG games since the Satiator uses that slot, it's handy the Saroo use the cartridge slot instead and also provides the memory expansion at the same time. Which ever you choose should guarantee you much Saturn goodness 🙂

I love the stealthiness of the satistor, but that price point is quite significant. I still can’t believe they didn’t do a FRAM upgrade on the system. As soon as I saw you open up the battery compartment I just rolled my eyes. Back in the day that was a $20 chip but nowadays you can get five for $12 and you don’t have to worry about battery back ups. But essentially, it looks like you take a motherboard from either a Japanese system or a US system after you takeoff the disk and plug it into the cart

I love Sega Saturn! I made the choice to purchase and toss in a Satiator, and I've had similar results. Gotta have the Ram cart too, but it also loads very fast and is very reliable.

Price is not a problem for me. Compatibility and performance wise, would you prefer the Saroo over Fenrir and Statiator? I’m currently planning to get a Saturn with Fenrir and Fenrir Loader Kai for cheats and backup saves, and then all I would need are the official 4MB and 1MB RAM carts or hopefully one of the all in one carts with the 1MB and 4MB switch should work.

I already own a Mode and 5 Saturn's. I may have to buy a Saroo. I'm not too sure about that Saroo console. It should have hdmi out and Fram mod. So I'm kinda meh about it. What adapter are you using with that 8bitdo?

FRAM mod is pointless because the Saroo will make a new save file on the SD card for each game. You can load from the Saturn's internal memory by loading the game holding Z, but I don't know why you'd do that since you're getting a new console that will store saves directly on the SD card.

On the strength of this I bought the same but I get no audio or video output from the console when powered on. Does it display anything when you power it on without the Saroo? Looks like I'm returning it. Prices have increased by about 30% since I got mine so I won't be replacing it sadly.

yes that adapter will work in the UK, he shows the label and it's a 100-240V (auto-sensing input voltage) adapter. so you only need one of those little US to UK plug converters.

The board is harvested from an existing Saturn. Whether it was a dead one or a perfectly good one is anyones guess.

Thought I mentioned that in the video, but I dont think I mentioned the way they have them named, but I got the Elite version. The difference is the normal uses some repurposed chips, so like used chips, the elite is all brand new chips. Both should function the same Id imagine, but I dont know if they ship them with different firmware or not. Mine came with the latest firmware update.

I have read that Keio 2, and some street fighters games do not work, as far as I remember, because those are games I really care. There are others but since I remember I didn't care about them, I can't recall wich ones they are.

With the latest firmware updates the Saroo is said to be at over 93% compatibility with the systems library from what I have researched. With this thing being open source its a work in progress and I am sure compatibility will continue to increase. As far as testing on a regular Saturn versus the one I used in this video there will be zero difference as this is a real Saturn just without the Disc Drive.

The cartridge slot probably allows for much quicker data access/transfer. The other ode solutions like the fenrir, replace and connect through the ports of the cd drive. There might a hardware limitation using that way.

@@tidalus @tidalus didnt know they could ditch the loading times, this is almost if not instant. Wonder if the same thing is possible for Playstation 1, only option that shortens loading is on the Psp with disc speed adjusted to fast. Sure is interesting that this is possible for Saturn games.

Hey dude! Thanks for bringing us this -- I will be checking this out! I have one Saturn (my cleanest, white HST-3200, RIP😭) which recently crapped out. Powers on, reads the discs in the menu, starts to load........ then, nothing. May try a Saroo cart on it before I do anything further!! Thanks again! 💪🔥🙏🪐🪐
