I bought a 1tb 970 evo plus nvme ssd for less than these late last year. These are way overpriced for sata ssd. Even the new nvme gen 4 980 pro isn't that much more money. These days i see no reason not to go nvme preferably Samsung when on sale.

I literally say that in the conclusion 😁 but the price will go down in time, and not everyone has (enough) m.2 slots.
@CknSalad3 жыл бұрын
Techtesters another thing that doesn’t get mentioned enough is depending on which mobo you get, multiple m.2s may disable some specific sata ports or run the some pcie x16 lanes to x8 instead or even the second or third m.2 slot running gen 4 nvme drives not to their performance. On b550 mobos...it’s all over the place in regards to this. Maybe...you could even compare the Intel and amd mobos with two to three nvme ssds as a video if you haven’t already.
@imbanett03 жыл бұрын
Exactly, even the price is slightly lower than m.2 nvme. , For less important storage, I can stick with much cheaper and much larger volume HDD. For OS and games, the speed just way too slow (500 vs 3000 - 4000), I would rather replace the main drive even out of m.2 slot. If the motherboard has no m.2 in 2021, should have replace the motherboard before the drive.
@TechTesters3 жыл бұрын
@cknsalad Of course there are always more variables, but that would be part of a motherboard review (which I'm not sure if I'll do, I've got a lot of other things I'd love to do first), and shouldn't be part of an SSD review. You'd end up with hour long SSD videos talking about all possible things to consider.

Would this work as a cheaper storage drive for video projects and games? Like once you're done working with a project on an NVME main drive and finished rendering the output, then you can put the component files on to a large SATA drive. Final backup can go on a huge HDD array. The MSRPs for the 870 are insane though, too close to NVME 970 territory.

You are comparing EVO with Crucial's BX series SSD, whereas MX500 is already there since many years.

I got 4Tb Samsung 870 EVO £372.52 from Amazon. I was moved all PC games into SSD helped faster loading games My 2Tb SSHD was awful slow speed 23mins loading on ARK: Survival Evolved with 40 mods after loading went slow pop up textures, moved to new 4Tb Samsung SSD much faster loading just under 7mins on ARK + 40 mods & faster textures pop up. This Samsung SSD rock 👍🏻🤘🏻

nice but i need a comparison with adata su 800 256gb, lexar ns100 256gb and samsung 870evo 250gb. if you kindly do this review as well. thank you in advance

SATA SSD is the new SATA HDD. Same price. If you want something faster, get nvme. Costs bit more, but you get something faster. Like it always is. SATA SSD is now finally mainstraim, classic HHD only recommended for very large drives. And nvme is the new SATA SSD. 2020 at least brought us one thing positive

After I use a sata 6G data cable, Which power cable is needed to supply power to it?

Can you help me choose in between both of them - Samsung 870 EVO 500GB or Samsung QVO 1TB? Main usage is for video editing and some intense applications. My laptop doesn't support nvme drives.
@TheFourthWinchester2 жыл бұрын
Buy the Samsung Pro models. Video editing will kill any other kind of SSDs quickly. Definitely do not buy QVO.

Why they still make a 250GB makes no sense.
@Waldherz3 жыл бұрын
It does make a LOT of sense. Cache drives usualy dont have to be much larger than that. And even a 120Gb SSD is enough for WIndows alone. So 250GB also makes sense. I have my Windows on a 250GB 860 Evo (had it in a 840 Evo in 120GB for years before, moved that drive over to my 2nd PC) and Im only usong 40% of its capacity. Cuz I only keep my OS on my OS drive, NOTHING else. Makes resets and systems waps much much quicker. Also increases the lifetime of your OS drive by a lot. My mentioned 840 Evo is still perfectly fine without errors after more than 6 years of 24/7 use as an OS drive.

Some cases just demand the use of Samsung drives since they're the only ones that look decent
