‘The neglected continent’ is waking up to prosperity and will stand on her own feet, define her own future. BRI is a mutually beneficial ecosystem that make sense for Africa to accelerate her growth. China views Africa as a market, western countries view Africa as charity.

@JarJarBinks yea yea Sri Lanka bla bla bla we've all read the stories, funny how you critics are always quick to point out Sri Lanka or Zambia but never mention any success stories, a lot of countries are partnering up with China for infrastructure developments and most of them are reaping the fruits of success. Would not be surprised if you were European or American.

@JarJarBinks In October 1960, the President of Guinea visited China. During the visit, the two governments signed an economic and technological cooperation agreement. The agreement stipulates that China grants Guinea a non-interested loan with no conditions and privileges, amounting to 22.5 million rubles for the provision of complete sets of equipment and technical assistance; and stipulates that the standard of living expenses of Chinese experts during several working periods shall not exceed The standard of living of the same personnel in Guinea. The first projects China has helped Guinea to build include match factories, cigarette factories, hydropower stations, and tea test stations. Among them, the match factory and the cigarette factory were the first complete sets of projects aided by China in Africa, which was completed in July 1964. In 1962, in order to solve the economic difficulties of Algeria after independence, according to Mao Zedong's instructions, China transferred 9000 tons of imported wheat directly to Afghanistan. In October 1963, China and Afghan signed an economic and technological cooperation agreement, and China provided Algeria with more than 2.5 billion francs of interest-free loans. In the same year, China also sent a medical team of 24 outstanding medical personnel to Algeria to work in Afghanistan. By 1970, China had sent foreign aid medical teams to eight African countries. In August 1963, the former Prime Minister of Somalia visited China and Zhongsuo signed an economic and technological cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, China provided 80 million Swiss francs (about 6.35 million pounds) of interest-free loans to Somalia from 1963 to 1970. According to the exchange of letters between the two countries, China provided $3 million in financial assistance to the Somali government between September 1963 and December 1964. In January 1964, China took the initiative to assist in the construction of a theater in Somalia to help the relief of food and medicine worth 500,000 yuan. In the 1950s and 1960s, China signed assistance agreements with 12 countries including Guinea, Mali, Algeria, Somalia, Congo, Algeria (Egypt), Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Mauritania. In addition to providing general supplies (including food aid) and cash, it is mainly a package of aid projects. According to statistics, from 1956 to 1966, China provided a total of 428 million U.S. dollars in aid to the above 12 countries. In 1965, the Tanzanian President visited China for the first time. He asked the Chinese government for assistance in repairing the railway and received active support from Chairman Mao. Chairman Mao said that we would rather not repair the railway ourselves, but also repair it for you and help you repair it. China at the time was not rich. On September 5, 1967, the governments of China, Tanzania and Zambia signed an agreement on the construction of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway in Beijing. In October 1970, the Tanzania-Zambia Railway was started. On June 7, 1975, the entire track laying task was completed ahead of schedule. In July 1976, the handover was completed. The Tanzania-Zambia Railway and the AU Conference Center, which was later built by China, became a historical monument of China-Africa friendship. During the six years from 1964 to 1970, the number of countries assisted by China increased to 32. In 1970, China established diplomatic relations with 20 African countries, accounting for about half of the independent African countries at that time. China's loans for aid are low-interest and interest-free, and can even be repaid unconditionally, and most are equal to free gifts.

This documentary video Part 1&2 accurately presents the true pragmatic relationship between China and Africa and China's desire to extend help to poorer nations around the world as Deng Xiaoping has said China will do and subsequent Chinese presidents have kept up with that promise. Africa has suffered centuries of colonialism and exploitation yet there has been no tangible development and investment made into the continent. This is a new chapter for Africa and deservingly so to catch up with the rest of the world and for Africans to stand up tall and be very proud of where you came from. No more wars, no more famine and no more food aid. Africa will one day be able to send food relief to other parts of the world to help those in need. All these infrastructure projects and factories are just the catalyst. Africans must seize this opportunity to develop and expand their own industries and raise the living standards of Africans from here on. I would like to see China spending more on making such documentary videos to show to the world the good work she has done to Africa. So far, many people do not have much information and if they do, they are most likely to encounter those presented by Western media with their bias views and in some cases, negative propaganda against China through misinformation and twisted facts.

China sees in Africa now, itself 50 years ago. It knows that Africa could be the next big untapped market. It makes sense to develop ties and help Africa develop so when Africa becomes the next market - then China will be in on the ground floor. The West only brought slavery and colonialism. It left many African nations with no infra-structure and growing cash crops to pay off "African" debt to the IMF.

Chinese philosophy of Taoist play a role in their leadership and how the helping humanity, to attain Economic development. Chinese lifted 800 Millions of their People out of poverty. Without a global exploitation or Colonialism. But West used Colonialism, imperialism to lift, their People out Poverty. The take advantage of African Spirit of generosity, kindness. But People of the West see only present, but not the future. That why the exploitated African for hundreds of years. The marginalized the Continent. Mega Structure, technology is not only Civilization, Social structure, relationships to People is also part of human Civilization. And as human, we all depend on each. We all share this beautiful planet together. To be really human beings, you must show your humanity to another human being. That is What Chinese are doing in the Continent. African forget about the Western propaganda machine, against the Chinese in Africa. The Continent of Africa have Sustain humanity for millennium. And it will Continue like that. Because that is the law of nature and human Circle.

China has started on this initiative bringing over new Hi-Tech equipment and highly train talent to help Africa out of their good will. Remember money does not drop from heaven it has to be repaid. Thank God China has embarked on this global sharing community development scale and hopefully the next generations of Africans do not need to migrate to the Western world for a better future. For a long time, the infrastructure of developing countries can only be borrowed from financial institutions controlled by developed countries such as ADB and the World Bank, and debts owed by the Paris Club and the IMF. ADB is a Japanese president, the World Bank is an American president, and the United States has the veto power of the IMF. The Paris Club is made up of the 22 richest countries in the world, providing debt arrangements for debtor countries and creditor countries. Under such an international economic order, the fate of developing countries is completely controlled by developed countries. So instead of helping them to plan & build infrastructure and development project this borrow money goes to this corrupt Government Ministers and official and noting was build. Thank God China steps in and make this wonderful ideas turn to reality.

The Chinese funded half the SGR running from the Kenya coast to halfway thru the country. They refused to fund the 2nd half. So Kenya is forced to rehab the old railway line built by colonial Britain. So why couldn't the old line be rehabbed in the 1st place? Now the country is saddled with billions in debt for an incomplete railway.

As a Kenyan, I can tell you sir, are a shameless liar. The 2nd half already started more than 2 years ago. Plus, the sections of the old railway have always been in use since independence. Kenya's debt is still less than 54% of the GDP so we are somehow safe for now.
