I would've preferred they add the slayer helmet upgrade to the drops for ravenous ghouls and finally gave them their own slayer task, maybe some other stuff to incentivize killing them. I don't see why it was necessary to add these as a mid-level task instead of working with what was already there.

Because it's entire purpose is to drop the slayer mask upgrade; most Mainscapers seem to forget that the Slayer Helmet is locked behind a lot of mid tier slayer creatures. Desert/jungle Stryke wyrm, and the horrors - This fits right in to the current system, like it should be.

I quit 2 years ago. Moved over to Gacha games like Genshin and wuthering waves. RS3s main issue was that the combat is often very convoluted and messy when doing bosses or using weird abilities like greater barge.

You can also get there with ring of slaying which is very useful for lower level gim. With your mage setup did you have earth spells set? 50% seemed way too low

Strange that they made this slayer creature somewhat "tough" to kill in order to get the spectral lens considering its very easy to kill jungle and desert wyrms for the hexcrest/focus sight. Then again they never really updated those creatures post eoc, but when they updated turoths awhile back they were insanely hard to kill for such low level creatures it was silly. In any case these scarabs look like those ugly grasshoppers from bugs life lol.

I feel like they could either half the hp of the monsters or half its defense and it would make this task/monster much better. Like compare them to the wyrms that drop the other pieces and they feel so out of place. In terms of diffeculty i would place them with lava strikewyrms but profit wise not so much.

No? Part of building and running an MMO is to design reward space to fill in later. Reward space is a necessary thing and it’s very short sighted to blow all your reward space super quick. Same reason you didn’t have slayer add on’s for range and magic at the same time as melee. Melee got their’e first with the black mask and cave horrors, years later they added strykewyrms and with the range and magic equivalents, and now they repeat and add a new slayer mob with the necro version. We are actually really ahead of the ball game here since necro only has to wait for a year. Tldr; No expansion and reward space are critical to an MMO and understanding how to manage that is what separates a good live service dev from a bad one.
