You have to have the tier three hammer to collect the rust though, so you have to down at least a few black ox beetles.

Well for most early t3 weps need hammer and if you can't kill one with t2 things get the pinchwacker Or get a crossbow and cheese it

Just killed a black widow (my first!) with this spear (level 8) and the Fire ant shield. Haven't made the fire ant armor yet.....think I'll finish a set and upgrade it. Speed was the key to the engagement. Blocking with this shield helped and reduced her defenses, but backing her up against the rocks and not giving her time to maneuver or initiate a bite really changed the outcome. Spears may not do a lot of damage in one hit, but multiple hits and interrupting attacks more than make up for it. A few venom bites did get through, but not nearly as many as I had feared. A few smoothies for back up.....and the deed was done. (Venom fumes linger a bit longer....so don't forget to keep an eye on the health meter afterwards.) 😉 PS: went down the fresh path. Termites I can handle.....but Ladybird Larva? (Sizzle/sizzle)🥵.

I will say, the rust spear is a weapon I never actually saw on youtube saw any guides for or anything, I just got it in my world, and even unupgraded i'm loving the weapon, it made coaltana bearable for me lol

It is spear. Every other weapon is popular among the youtubers except spears. They consider them weak but never build around them.

I have a question. I happened upon a shiny salt trinket while upgrading the spear. It increases your salt attack. Does it do more damage against enemies that are weak to salt than Thors pendant? I just want whatever will do the most damage against termites and antilions.

I've been curious about something if your using let's say a 'salty weapon' and you have a suspicious ice cap as your trinket does it do both salty and fresh?

The candy trinkets at 15 damage that is modified by weakness and resistances of the enemy. A resistant enemy will receive some 11-12 extra damage a hit, and a weak enemy will receive some 18-19 extra damaged a hit. Having neither deals a flat 15 extra damage per hit. This makes a big difference to your damage output when you have weapons that attack faster. For perspective, a punch deals 10 damage. So equipping a candy trinket will mean your punches now do 2-3x their normal damage depending on the enemy. And because you can punch 3-4x faster than you can swing a club, that means you’re doing an extra 30-60+ damage in the same time the club hits once for an extra 11-19 damage.

Great build testing, you are the best grounded youtuber actually; stay on the subject you ll get more followers for sure. I have an idea for you : test damages, like normal sword level 9, the salt version and the normal version with a salt trinet. OBJECTIVE : it s actually hard to understand the part of physical damage of a wepon VS the part of elemental damage. Are they mutually exclusive or a percentage of global damage ? More precise : 2 weapons with same damage, one percing the other slashing, the bug vulnerable to slash and salt and resistant to pierce. Do percing going salt way will come the same as the slashing ?

So about the Sleek path for the armor, the description of +Acid says it increases Acid damage (as opposed to add acid damage to attacks)… aside from the set bonus of Acid Splash from the Ant Armor, where else do you get Acid Damage from? I find it hard to believe that the sleek bonus will only apply to the set bonus. Seems odd… or Is the description on Acid Damage wrong and it does add acid to attacks?

Exactly what I been searching the last two hours on the internet, it says it increased acid damage dealt, not that it adds acid damage to your attacks. Meaning I need to deal acod damage, but I can’t find a si gel weapon that the game confirms it deals acid damage. I have a few guesses but nothing certain

I just confirmed it, it does not add acid damage. I went around hitting ants with the red fire ant armor on, sleek path, and with a weapon that did not have any effects. All the attacks always took exactly 50 perfect of the ants health and didn’t do any more damage over time or anything. then I took my red fire ant armor off, did the same thing and still dealt the same damage. So in conclusion there has to be something that deal acid damage.

@@xzentric101 only thing I can think of is the spicy staff. Maybe they should’ve just made the fire ant armor increase spicy damage and then later on make armors for all elements.

@@xzentric101 Acid splash effect and Corrosion. +Acid damage add damages to acid effects. Corrosion is an acid effect along with the Acid splash.

Sorry this is not quite the topic of your video but is anybody else having issues with the new sorting update? Each time I go to soft a box it freezes and kicks me out of the game. Try broodmother chest with fire ant helmet and mantis legs with fire ant shield and rusty spear. Use Javelineer, mom genes, coup de grass, mantsterious stranger and trapper peep.r mutations and use the whittle widowling trinket for the best build for spear

lol you're sacrificing the set bonus acidic splash which is the only reason anyone uses fire ant armor. You do realize the "acid" bonus from fire ant armor only affects the acidic splash set bonus skill. If you wanna do poison, pick another 2 armor pieces to go with the brood mask.
