@@minmi9231 do you mean in the context of a counterweight, then yes probably, but the tail was shaped more like a paddle, making it great for swimming

We definitely now know Spinosaurus was incapable of knuckle walking, its thicker tail would have aided its body for a counterbalance, therefore, making the quadrupedal stance VERY unlikely. It can perhaps stand in quad pose, but 95% of the time it would walk bipedally on slightly longer and more bulked up legs that are more proportional than these spindly appendages...

the walk on the knuckles is my mistake, but the model I made was not made with fanboy references but with scientific references. so when you talk about slender appendages you're referring to the real legs of the spinosaurus

@@DachDLT IK Spinosaurus did really have short legs, but think about it in a logical and visual standpoint. Would these small back legs really be able to support its 9 ton body in a bipedal form of locomotion? Not really, with legs that spindly, it would probably break its ankles and knees on the very first stride. This is why I said, make the legs abit more stocky looking. I mean Mark Witton did make his paper questioning the CoG of Spinosaurus and mentioned that the only possible solution for Spinosaurus to be able to walk efficiently would be slightly larger and more muscular legs.

@@spinoguy3555 No the fanboy wasn't referring to you. However I have tried to do my best in modeling, it is not easy to truthfully reconstruct an animal like this

yeah but you forgot that the tail was bulky only on the base, everything else was thin and lightweight, which wouldn't make it a good counter weight. + legs in this model actually need to be a bit shorter and the body longer. ( and it would actually spent 95% of it's tine in water )

I love the model, when my new computer is ready to render my blender animation fast enough, I will model spinosaurus to be in the same shape as yours and have him replace the brontosaurus in a scene in the 1933 King Kong

The quadruped knuckle walking position hadn't been ruled out? As I understood that the spinosaurus had air sacs and that, combined with a muscular tail, would make it a bipedal as it has a torso not as heavy as it seems

I love this :D Spinosaurus is my favourite dinosaur! I always liked spinosaur but the quadrupedal one was ok. I always thought of spinosaur to use its arms to attack. ( Im a big fan of the JP Franchise lol ) So it was ok. I loved how it looked tho. The curvy spine, the snout, and just everything about it! The one thing I don't like about your model is the thicc tail xd I mean i havent done my research lately about the spino boi but it just seems too fat. Maybe it is cause it is semi aquatic but otherwise, this is great!

You should deff brush up! ^^ This model is made specifically from the new skeleton parts they found recently, the giant rudder tail seems to prove Spinosaur was predominantly aquatic rather than just occasionally being near water.

well now that we know that 2/3 of it's tail was thin and lightweight, it couldn't be a good counter weight for the mass in front of the legs ( and now there is a theory that it didn't walk on land, rather it spent most of it's life in water, getting out only to lay eggs). Now this spinosaurus is shown on land so I think that the animator didn't want a stubby spinosaurus ,rather something cool to show off his model, so he made it quadrapedal

the body should be longer and more slender, back legs a bit shorter and the tail a bit longer, but over all it is a great model

Actually this spino still can walk on 2 leg, it forelimbs is not strong enough to carry it own weight, but it still good :3
