Being that you are a filmmaker I'd love to see your reaction to one of Ren's older tracks called "Crutch". This is the most powerful, beautiful and brilliant music video made with $0.00, I have ever seen. It just goes to show you don't need a ton of cash to make a statement, no budget doesn't mean no creativity. Sometimes simplicity can be the most powerful way to visually tell a story.🔥😍 This MV is over 8 years old & he had shot it shortly after a sever psychotic episode & brief hospitalization. I find it powerful for such a young artist who was suffering at the time he made it. It starts out as a somber & hunting piano ballad & a little more than half way through it blasts into a heavy metal inspired section with electric guitar riffs and a crazy vocals from Ren, who seems like he's channel his inner Axel Rose.🎸🤘😉 Here's what Ren had to say about this song: "This was shot with no budget at the end of a frickin ' freezing October, felt like I was going to get hypothermia lying on cold slate for a few hours, serious case of mind over matter but so happy with how it turned out :) The song came about after a nervous breakdown following lots of visits to emergency room after some scary health problems. It's a song for anybody who has faced any kind of mental challenges, depression, anxiety, or health struggles while in a relationship and all the fears that come along for the ride with that. It is also a song for the courageous and wonderful people who support their other halves, family or friends during times of crisis :) In whatever context I hope my music can help take some of the weight from anyone suffering and help people feel less alone." Cheers brother, ✌

I believe the implied story of Jenny went over your head my friend. it's not what he said about Jenny's life, it's what he didn't say but what's implied when you factor in Jenny's entire situation & the trilogy as a whole. (also Big Ben is the massive Clock in the center of London, not just some tower 😁). Here's my understanding of how the origin story of this trilogy came to be & the messages within, that I believe Ren intended. This wasn't originally a trilogy story. Ren read a small article about a 14 yr old boy killing a young prostitute with a knife in an attempted robbery. Knife crime had been skyrocketing in London at this time. Later that same evening the boy had been shot and killed by the armed police division that had responded to a sighting of a possible suspect; (your average beat cop doesn't carry a firearm unless it's called for), for a girl found murdered in Sussex Gardens area in Paddington - (which is one of the capital's most notorious red light districts). It disturbed Ren, so he set out to write a commentary not just on senseless generational violence, but on how desensitized we've become to it. The words he ends both Jenny and Screech's Tales with is "It's such a Shame" we say these words all to often and just move on with our lives without a second thought. The lead inspector was quoted in the article saying " So Young, It's such a shame". Violets Tale was written over 2 years later adding another layer of commentary by Ren. He wanted us to look at all angles of society & the things we turn a blind eye to. Both characters are born out of violence on that cruel night of Violets beating and then both kids killed in brutal violence the same night 14yrs later. His lyrics have even more meaning when you read in between the lines. For example he doesn't say what Jenny was doing or why she wanted to escape from this place & life, or why Screech thought she was older. He say's at Patrick's door "I left this (lady) lying on the floor". Could that be because the way she's dressed & her heavy makeup? Also why was a 14yr old girl out so late in the dead of night walking alone in a sketchy area, wearing high heeled shoes, walking down a street that "she's walked down a thousand times before"? Everything points to Jenny being an underage prostitute, showing us what Ren writes has reason & is made to make us think. There's no fat on the bone, every word is weighed & has meaning. It's also Interesting how Jenny has the same traits as her mother Violet, quiet, voiceless, and timid. Whereas Screech mirrors his father Stevie (the Prick boyfriend) in every way, Loud, obnoxious, and easily provoked to violence. They didn't know one another and had never met their biological parents. What made these kids so much like their parents? Was it simply Nature, inherited traits due to their genetic make-up OR Nurture, being brought up in the broken governmental system filled with, mistreated & in many cases, abused children, shuffled from one foster home to another ? He organically takes us on this journey, leaving us to think shouldn't we be doing better in this so called "advanced, wealthy, 1st world society. I'm loving your reactions & can't wait for more. Cheers 🍻

@@MykGryff just a pre warning for ya. money game 1 2 and 3 is a trilogy as well. hi ren and sick boy are really good as well . the concepts are very clever and very real. big ben is the name of the bell within the tower. its good to cry. your just a real guy with the capacity to feel all the aspects of the story, place yourself in the shoes of all the characters, and the hellish rollercoaster of moments in their lives.jumping from one character to another quickly is overwhelming.ive lived the abusive dad the abusive husband and years of beatings from my brother. and the loss of my first baby on my wedding night at the hands my new husband. 2 months later i was pregnant again.i escaped with my life on my first wedding anniversary.having just given birth to my first child 6 weeks earlier. in all reality it was our baby that really saved me,because without having her i wouldnt have left til i was in a box. but having her i had to leave.him killing me was what i expected and accepted would be the outcome of my life. giving up on my life was one thing, but our little girl was another thing entirely. there was nobody to save me,both as a child and as an adult.but for her, i was the one and only thing she had.i was the only thing standing between her and the monster i married. and without any doubt he would have absolutely ended her in a heartbeat, just to keep control over and hurt me. he took our first baby out before that baby even got to breath air.i risked mine and my daughters lives getting us out when i did.but i knew staying would end both my baby and i.so there was nothing left to lose that wouldnt have been lost by staying.for those reason jenny screech and violet hit me and take me back to those times.i know that terror very well.thats not something that ever leaves you.keep well buddy, and perhaps invest in a box of tissues.you could name that box ren lol

Ah man, I avoided Violet’s Tale for MONTHS because I was reeling from Hi Ren and knew from the thumbnails that The Tales was going to wreck me all over again. Aside from the story arc watching them in order makes you also appreciate how intentional Ren does things- especially the overture at the beginning of each Tale which sets the tone for what is about to unfold. And I agree 100% about the purpose of art, in any and all forms, is intended to be shared and to evoke emotion. Ren is truly masterful at this. You will really love the Money Game series. They are stand alone pieces, however they are bookended by MG1(REN’s first one shot with zero budget ) and MG3 (which had an actual budget and other actors etc). For MG2 do the official lyric video NOT the live version. It’s perhaps the only time where the live one isn’t better than the official MV.

I felt so bad for your having seen Violet first and knowing what was coming. It made Violet's Tale all the worse. Jenny and Screech were both 14 years old. Jenny may have seen put together; but, what kind of family would be okay for Jenny to be walking those streets late at night dressed like a woman. Screech mistook Jenny for a lady, an adult not a young teen. Samuel did a wonderful job of filming the tales in one take each, though several attempts. The second attempt was the best take of twelve before they were rained out. I see generational abuse in the tales, not sin. Hitting and abusing women was not considered a sin in the Bible. Generational abuse probably stems from the beginning of humankind and how women were viewed and continues today as we turn a blind eye as a society. This is where the bitter 'It's such a shame' comes from. It is what everybody says and moves on without much thought. It is as helpful a sentiment as sending prayers and thoughts to the victims and the families of victims of gun violence in the USA. It is worthless as it changes nothing. 'Such a shame' was said by a policeman in the article of the stabbing of a woman by a 14 year old boy that Ren read and then wrote the Tales.

So jenny was not the stable girl you said at the beginning. It is implied that she was a prostitude, bc why would she walk in a dark street in the middle of the night in highheels like million times before at 14 years old? Also its implied that Patrick and screeches girlfriend had an affair, that's why Patrick isn't home and the girlfriend is busy. Jenny was silent like her mother violet and screech was violent like his father stevie. And one detail I really like: in jennys tale there is the line "I'll slice the rosie of your cheeks " and in screeches tale there is the line "face the blue light ". Rosie + blue = violet
