I know I'm late to the party but I suggest adding support for actual trackers in the future combined with predictive tracking so it could also act as a backup system when a tracker goes out or to serve as a way to simulate extra trackers

It'll get much better. The whole virtual reality thing is in its infancy stages. We'll have avatars one day that can feel, smell, and look exactly like you.

when i first saw this i thought it was normal FBT. Absolutely amazing stuff. if i could use this to make other types of fbt more accurate, such as camera tracking with a kinect, that would make some of the best and cheapest full body tracking right now.
@viroxd2 жыл бұрын
Its crazy how this looks better than some body tracking hardware out there. It's not perfect, but its a damn good estimation. I'm impressed.. especially considering that it looks like you're just 1 developer.

I hope you actually realize that this is a _million_ dollar software. Big studios are spending literal mountains of money to create FBT without external hardware and seeing this implementation work this well even with "just" 6-point, inside-out tracking is absolutely something that e.g. Meta would be interested in

wonder if there would ever be a version where it could be ran in the background and put vive trackers in steam so we can use it in applications that can use fullbody
@standable2 жыл бұрын
Yep! A SteamVR app is being looked into to emulate SteamVR trackers so any game that supports FBT will work automatically with FBE even if the devs didn’t directly implement it.
@AmiciCherno2 жыл бұрын
This is using your resources to bring innovation, I love this, but the best kind of innovation is making the most accurate systems at the most affordable cost, which obviously being able to use multiple nodes to track your body movements will always be the best method, so when someone with the resources to make the endeavor decides to try to make it affordable/cheap that will be the day full body tracking will become mainstream, but the fact that you're making full body estimation to bridge the gap in the meantime is just astonishingly amazing, props to you bro, hope you can profit off this as well.
@Deathbatman2 жыл бұрын
This was actually amazing and the amount of coding to get like this must have been terrible to do. It works just as the video shows and tbh I thought this was a scam until I tried it and it worked. It works good and for something that is 100 percent guessing is scarily accurate. 10/10 would recommend
@zwenkwiel8162 жыл бұрын
I used to use this app on my phone for hip tracking in VR, maybe you could do something similar to track the hips cuz everyone has a phone (dropped mine a few times too many though so my accelerometer is messed up XD)
@zwenkwiel8162 жыл бұрын
@mageenderman4376 no the one I used was called DecaMove or something. they also make a dedicated tracker for VR (well there was a kickstarter, didn''t really follow it) and they have the free app as well. I still need a new phone though cuz my current one is too jacked up to do motion tracking XD (google maps doesn't even know which way i'm facing...)

Maybe the context could help guess leg movement (or acceptable estimates) as well. Like, if you know that the user will probably be standing still when taking actions, then you know that the legs probably don't need to move as much. It should also be possible to estimate by how someone's movement will likely affect their need to balance, so their legs need to be moving such that they can more easily balance, etc.

Will this also help with Tracker visibility loss silliness where Lighthouse Trackers will suddenly zip away into infinity if they're obscured for half a second?

are you familiar with FinalIK by RootMotion (a popular Unity asset)? how is this different? In FinalIK, you can use procedural animation for the hips/legs, and you can programmatically play masked/weighted animations to simulate laying down and then rolling over etc. your video made it hard to discern what you're actually doing leg-wise. the laying down / rolling over part was interesting
