Good luck recharging the batteries when empty. While conventional apc's etc are refueld quickly, electricity takes much longer and you have to have the electr-recharge infrastructure for it. Eelectricity at the battlefield is hard to get. But hey ho, the military is going green LOL
@AirShark95 Жыл бұрын
It's not full electric, its a hybrid. The diesel engine will recharge the batteries. When running in "silent" mode, the batteries can help keep the vehicle running without putting out a lot of noise and heat (very important for maintaining a low thermal signature). Plus, electric motors are excellent at delivering torque and will be very handy to have when dealing with poor terrain, steep inclines, or when towing heavy objects. On top of that, they help cut down on fuel consumption, reducing the strain on logistics. Using hybrid technology in a military environment is perfectly logical and gives a LOT of additional advantages besides being "green". Submarines and warships have been doing this sort of power setup for decades now.

It's only marketed as "green" because of PR. The advantages of using a hybrid powertrain go FAR beyond cutting down on emissions. It makes the vehicles quieter, cuts down on their thermal signature, reduces the strain on fuel consumption and logistics, gives the vehicles enhanced mobility because of the electric motors, and helps evolve the technology which can eventually trickle down to the civilian automotive market.
