Not really. The time of Sultan Mehmed IV was a revival for the empire. Era of conquest began for next 30-40 years untill Siege of Vienna 1683, even than the empire remained powerful and won wars against Russia in 1712, against Venice in 1715 & again Habsburgs in 1739. The official decline of the empire began in 1775.

I disagree. Kosem supported Murat even after he took the regency from her. She never wanted to go against her. And whenever murat had a state related issue, he took opinions from kosem too. Kosem helped him identify traitors due to her experience in the palace as a regent and there was nothing wrong in that. He should've taken Advice from her both as a mother and an ex-regent. HOWEVER he was poisoned later by his own thoughts and people like Silahtar around him.

KOSEM and Dowager Cixi story quite similar. Both started from emperors concubines who had to fight with other women in the harem. Rose to power that was almost as powerful as an emperor, ruling behind curtains. Both killed the emperors so that they stay in power all the time. Cixi led to destruction of Qing dynasty. Kosems rule almost did that if she were not killed by Turhan sultan. If you want to see worst women in dynasty study about Cixi.

Very good historical series Turkey ever have, the scences almost look similar to the Planentagnt royal family of England where Kings of England often murdered for the crown. The dynasty ended after Henry defeated Richard III at battle of Bosworth to became King Henry VIII of the House of Tudor. Unlike the troubled Ottoman empire, the monarchy here in England survived to this day though joined by Scotland as Great Britain.

All of these wouldn't have happened had Sehzade Mustafa succeeded his father Suleiman. The Ottoman dynasty went downhill once the spoilt child Selim became Sultan and the Sultans were under the influence of power hungry women. Sultan Murad was the last Sultan who tried to revive the legacy of his ancestor Suleiman. But sadly Kosem wouldn't allow it. I'm not speaking from the context of this drama. But from history.

sultan suleman ruled for 46 years and he was great ruler but both sultan ahmed I and his son Sultan Murad IV ruled for 17 years each so that means (17+17=34) , those 34 years were the golden era of ottoman empire, sultan Ahmed I saved the empire from dying after bad ruler like selim II, Murad III and Mehmed III hurt the empire, ottoman empire were at its peak during Sultan Ahmed I's reign, then Mustafa I and Osman II hurt the empire , Murad IV saved the empire from dying but due to turhan sultan overpowering the empire, the empire fell off. the last hope was Sultan Abdul Hamid II (34th sultan) but he was forced to resign and ottoman empired died

Mao Zedong an atheist killed more than 60 million people in a cultural revolution in China. Stalin also killed a lot of people and he was an atheist.
