That pink Sandberg is awesome. Would be great if we can get some info about the set up of the bass. I mean active or passive mode. Which pickup was on during the record etc..

AUX in and headphones out with a volume control for headphone mix. Seems simple but its something so many preamps fall short on. I'm in the market for a silent practice option and this is checking a lot of boxes for me.

Great video as always Gregor, and very nice playing by Johann! I still love my OG Tone Hammer DI and the Aguilar Sound, but this just seems like maybe someone at Korg said "can we make it look more like Darkglass?" with a different look and aux in/headphone out. The difference in volume when you add the AGS circuit is massive (and makes it unusable on the fly), so if they would have added a separate level control on the gain channel like the SGT-DI has, that might have made it an instant buy for me!

I've been using the og tone hammer preamp as my daily driver since... honestly can't remember. I am still touring with that pedal being the center of my sound, I love it and can't get enough of it BUT MAN, if there's something that I really dislike even to this day about the first version is the massime, and I mean MASSIVE, imbalance of output you get from the two channels, I am forced to use a limiter in the chain between the preamp and the cab simulator (or the power amp). Did they manage to improve on this? I mean, it's obvious that the drive channel gets more gain, thus more volume, it's physics, but the og pedal really brought this difference to the extreme and it's kinda bad let down in an otherwise amazing sounding preamp. Still the same issue or is this new version more balanced?

This pedal flies beyond overpriced and expensive and pretentious and lands right on profiteering. There is no magic in it. Just limited features/functionality. What a joke!
@buelow123
@buelow123 7 күн бұрын
I strongly disagree with you. Many use the OG Tonehammer DI as their main pedal. You Can shape the drive sound like you wish with the mid controls. The biggest and only complaint was the lack of a separate volume for the drive channel. This has been added and they also added an Aux in and and Headphone out. I think it's a great pedal.
@morbidalex666
@morbidalex666 7 күн бұрын
@@buelow123 Where's the separate vol for the drive channel? Get your facts straight. Players might find the one sound they can get each time they plug in well suited to their tastes. That does not make the pedal not outdated at the time of its release. Ohh and it's ridiculously priced too.
@NUdude
@NUdude 5 күн бұрын
I don't know what you expect price wise 😂. It's in line with their other preamp pedal they offer. It's just more rebranding of Aguilar post the Korg buyout. I do agree that the functionality is underwhelming. No reason for making a TH pedal v2 except to ride the good name of Aguilar when they were innovators. RIP to the innovations of Aguilar ✌🏼. I'll hang onto my v1 of this pedal
@morbidalex666
@morbidalex666 3 күн бұрын
@@NUdude What I expect doesn't matter to any one else but me. What actually matters though is how I react to these business practices. I am part of the market and I say I won't buy this. Maybe I would if it had more reasonable price, just to try it for myself and see what all the fuss is about. I will always support original builders that charge fair amount of dough. This is not the case. The Demonfx route is way more probable for me, in response to this particular company charging this much, just because they know that there are people willing to pay.

@morbidalex666 Ok, I get it. What you "expect doesn't matter to anyone but me"....but you're posting so everyone can know what matters to you. Got it 👍🏼😜!! And for sure, if your standard of pedal prices you think are fair is based on Chinese knockoffs, then yes, this pedal is waaaay overpriced 🤣🤣.

@ mainly im playing pop-rock,blues rock kind of music. From my experience under 17 years of playing bass,is that a good DI/Preamp can solve a lot. When im played in studio(mainly im record my line for myself at home),the key is simple. Get some Ampeg kind of sound,and get a good compressor. Thats all. I tried a lot of bass preamps… this tone hammer isnt bad..its just not good enough for the price. Doesnt have a cabsim,and the drive isnt soundig good enough for my ear. And it costs a lot compared to others. If you play simple rock or hard rock,go and get a Sansamp or a Joyo Tidal wave(this is a chinese sansamp copy,but im begging you it sound a lot better than a sansamp. Its insanely good),or if you play metal music get some Darkglass. Currently on the market i could say this two is the best,or maybe the Origin Effects Bassrig pedals. That two is insanely good as well. :)

@ you rock brother. Great reply 🤘🤘🤘🤘I hear Sansamp is the choice for the Ampeg sound, so your answer tracks.. I don’t have the Tidal Wave but do have some Joyo pedals and they are too good for the money. I like play worship bass and like a rounder fatter tone, digging the AG. My set up is Music Man running 18v into the Joyo Scylla, AG pre, HX Stomp for FX and amp sim /DI Sim to FOH. Keep On Bassin
