It was well known that some of the lead designers of WC3 played NE as main. It's the same with WoW where most devs played alliance and therefore alliance classes get the best racial abilities and perks. In the early days during beta (I was there, participated in all the alpha and beta phases), the community was extremely vocal about NE having many unfair designs and overpowered units, and it was incredibly hard to get any change because the devs were extremely biased. It more or less extended into retail, and then the expansions and then all the way up to now. If you look at the entire history of WC3, there was a short period where UD was OP when TFT expansion came out, and a very short time prior to that where HU was the best. In all other time periods, NE was the definitive race.

Classic alliance is kinda dead since beginning, tbc alliance was not even a thing, same with wotlk. Even until mop/wod every pro guild was playing horde. Even today, Although it wouldn't matter anymore. Every men for himself was the only really stronger one racial and purely in terms of PvP.

Ah, yes, Night elves. The only race that receives absolutely zero punishment for being outplayed, outmicroed, outscouted/outcountered or surrounded. Just staff everything out instantly, heal and replenish mana for free and INSTANTLY, plant more expos, get more units with absurdly high DPS-over-price ratio, and simply right click your opponent again until you win.

Human can also staff units out instantly and it heals while preventing the almost dead unit from returning to battle to die, entangle adds a full minute to expo build time, the other 3 races have heroes that can heal units in battle, and headhunters are best ranged unit for their cost/food. Archers are great but have abysmal hp.

@@tbonemjl Yeah, people take one "OP" aspect of a race and take that and say the race is op when every race has extremely powerful aspects. That's how the game is balanced, and it's a lot more fun and interesting because of that when you're not complaining.

You can outplay NA by simply attacking at day, while their HP and MP regen is lower and wells don't replenish. After a successful fight you can start destroying 10 enemy expos. Seems like a skill issue to me. On a serious note, late game Human is stronger, Undead heroes has a very good curve which reaches it's peak at 5/5/5 heroes, Ork has mobility. Without mentioning weak points, it's easy to make every race OP.

I REALLY hate balance whine and I don't think Nelf is as broken as Grubby thinks, but it does occur to me that Orc doesn't really have anything broken for the early game. Nelf has moon wells, Hu militia, UD ghouls, but Orc has nothing except maybe an above average shop.

agreed. we love grubby, but he choose to not adapt and suffered accordingly. why not go t3 + expand? you can only beat greedy by being greedy yourself in this match up. It's by design they have free heal, why not grab orc's free heal in the form of witch doctor? why not grab orc's INFINITE VALUE that is walker + tauren? DH too scary by tanking an entire army? heck blade can do the same given 2 rings or talasman, make a few grunts and head hunters and see if that's still true anymore.

Very. Healing Ward is a master skill, you’d be investing a lot of gold+lumber just for 1 witch doctor to cast healing ward

Warcraft is a very snowbally game, the investment needed to get master doctor is so much that by the time you get it you would have already in too bad of a position to recover.

He was already behind and his gold and lumber were all used in army to keep NE from snowballing. The NE literally had his cake and ate it too. Like Grubby said “he just got everything, it’s a party for him.” Investing that much for heal ward doesn’t really make sense. He doesn’t get enough value from it. Besides arnt you igonoring the fact he won the fight 3 times killed his KoTG twice? Grubby still had to retreat a few times with everything alive and nothing dying. NE is busted.

Getting them before KotG is already difficult to start with. Night elf can use their entire army, while orcs have to hide their Grunts from Entangle

You only get to dispel like 2 or 3 times, and Orc hasn't got any consistent way to replenish the mana, unlike Human or NE.

@@MWcrazyhorse I very much doubt you could save 2 or 3 units with it. Let's analyze it a bit more, a shadow priest cost almost as much as a grunt. A grunt could survive 2 or 3 entangle depending on the situation, while a shadow priest may not even survive the first encounter with the enemy due to its low hp. So would you rather have an extra grunt that can survive 2-3 entangle anyway? Or would you rather have a fragile caster unit that can only cast dispels 2-3 times? It's quite a dilemma for Orc really.

@@dark3031 No dude, Grunt dies in 2 entangles. If you dispel the first entangle then the unit can flee and help creep/harassbecause entangle is on CD. I think it's a good plan to get Priest Merc.

When you meme with Humans, you have some peasants and make some towers in the fights. Why dont you do the same with orc? Their tower is cheaper and fortified. It will poke bears and tear dryads apart. I can never reach your micro level, but stuff i see you do in game A, and not in game B make me scratch my head.

I Wonder what upgrades the elf hand and what items were on the elf heroes. I think grubby stayed on t2 with no upgrades, while the elf has t3 and maybe 2/2 on units (plus better eco all game). Also grubby kept attacking into him and usually defending is supposed to be a bit easier. So maybe it wasn’t that unbalanced all along.

Grubby didn't have a choice, he had to attack, he even said so himself. Elf fast expended, then rushed T3, as orc you HAVE TO push, since the elf is gonna scale much better as the game goes on with better eco and tech. Defending makes no sense since the elf wants to sit back, wait until his expo and t3 kicks in. I'm sure there was many things grubby could have done better. But his strategy is 100% not the problem.

Orcd can't got expo at tier 2 due to the amount of time that Orc expo takes to go up. It's suicide. Orc needs tiny and bloodlust. Regardless, surviving to tier 3 as Orc against Elf is hard enough.

@@petercoderch589 that just isn't true, you can fast expand while also going tier 2. It's a tight build, but it does work. It's a prime strat on the Echo Islands. You have to sacrifice going 3 grunt, you do 2 instead and then can't go warmill. You go warmill after expo is started. It's considered an eco cheese. As if they tower you or smell the base they can cancel it, pretty much is GG at that point.
