I just stopped by Lancaster today on my way home and picked one up as my one and only platform. I used a saddle last year in my XOP vanish hang on. This vid helped me make up my mind. Thank you for this.

I've been a mobile hunter since 2017 and I've tried numerous amounts of modifications to try to cut weight but it usually only ends up being oz not lbs and what I've learned is that weight no longer means that much to me. When I complained about weight I myself was out of shape. After my son was born I told myself i need to get back into shape. Since then I've gotten in shape and no longer complain about weight I just get in better shape and stronger thighs

@Ryan_E no secrets really. Just walk a mile with your loadout on that you hunt with a couple times a week. I don't walk a mile to my destination tree everytime I go out but if I need to I know I'm capable of doing so

The xop platform is only platform I've used, so I don't have a comparison. Feels stable and safe for a newb like me. Great review, thank ya.

I primarily use the Tethrd Predator XL, but actually find myself using the XOP platform more and more since making this video. It's rock solid on the tree and definitely bites better than the Predator XL, in my opinion.

Hunted all last season with it and really like the size and rigidity. Once you cam in onto the tree its solid as a rock. Bought in conjunction with their saddle which I have see as low as $100 on sale. Going to upgrade now that I have fallen in love with saddle hunting. Trophyline has come out with the Onyx which is a little larger than this, aprox. a LB lighter and has angled edges that should make leaning more comfortable. All that being said, the Edge is a great budget saddle stand!

Well full season done with it and I love it. I’m only 5’11 155 lbs I don’t give a shit about a pound or two or even 3. I did multiple 2+ mile walks in and even scouted with it when I was in new spots run and gun. If you toe kick this in it becomes part of the tree. Fits in my small bag tight but fits. I don’t have a comparison and probably won’t unless I get one for crazy cheap on CL. Great video you guys are awesome and seem honest. Shoot straight. ✌🏻 Edit: for reference Im in Maine and we can hunt any where we please so I move around a lot.

I've got this platform. Definitely noticed the weight, but I hunt private. So when I put it up, it's up for a few days. Super solid though!

Agreed Trevor. Very solid platform which obviously leads to the additional weight. I think there are some areas they could trim a little bulk out, but I'm a fan of it too. - Derrik

To be fair to XOP, the Edge is rated for 350lbs while the Tethrd Predator and Trophyline Mission and EDP are all rated for 300lbs. While most of us are well under the 300lb mark with gear all in, I would say the 350lb rating should feel more solid. So that is probably the tradeoff for the extra weight. Perhaps for bigger guys (6'+ and offensive lineman sized) the XOP is a safe bet.

Totally agree Gus! Weight difference is certainly noticeable, but the teeth never slipped once on the tree while using it.

Honestly, not as good as the XOP Edge in my opinion. I've also tried out the Trophyline Mission platform and that one seems to have a lot more bite than the Predator too. I still like the Predator, but I find the Mission and Edge are sturdier.

@@FoxtrotHunting You called it bro, sold the xop and went with the predator, the predator definitely doesn’t lock in as nice as the xop, sold it and just bought the trophyline edp, thinking it’ll be a solid mix of bite and weight

Amazon has this platform and the XOP Mondo saddle packaged together for $220. Can’t really beat that.

It's smaller than my Trophyline Mission, but the same weight or even a little heavier? The XOP does cost less though. Similar size, cost, and heavier than the Trophyline Mission EDP too. The XOP is not a win in my book. Looks cool. Needs to be $120 like on MidwayUSA to be competitive for the weight penalty.

This will be a set and leave set. I’m more of a ring of steps guy. But certain situations call for the platform for me. It’s a tank for sure.

I got this on the Midway deal. I did notice the weight and bought a Predator. I regret the Predator. Even though it’s lighter, the original Predator felt nowhere near as solid as this one, nor was it big enough to hang comfortably for long. Im going back to the XOP

I agree on the solid aspect of it Ole. The XOP definitely has a lot more bite. I've made a bunch of modifications to my Predator XL and would honestly probably choose the XOP over it if it wasn't for that. A good buddy of mine has the Trophyline Mission platform and I wish I would've tested that one out before buying the Predator XL. Very similar to the XOP, but larger and almost the same weight.

We haven't converted to one stick climbing so wouldn't be the best people to answer this...but from what we know, I don't think these platforms would work well enough for one stick climbing

it is crazy to put it in that perspective and I do think XOP could trim some of the fat on this platform for the next version of it, but it's rock solid. Definitely not for everyone!
