that convo about sexuality, as a queer non-binary person it's definitely a possibility that guy experiences some sort of internalised homophobia, which i feel we all experience because it's so engrained in our culture. I'm glad he's open to the discussion though, even correcting karen respectfully and the fact he can admire same sex relationships as an ally is quite cool. it's so refreshing to actually see an (i'm assuming) straight cis male doing what should be the bare minimum. chur guy, you are hilarious and i respect the hell outta you. i just binged watched all the podcast episodes and i'm really hoping more are coming because they are so funny, Karen reminds me of the grandmother i wish i had hahaha

My grandad was cop in NZ during the war. He had his own cells. He never locked them when he had people inside and they are what my grandma would cook for the family. My dad used to go into the cells and talk with the inmates and they would tell him stories at night. Grandad said everyone made mistakes and should be treated equally. They slept on straw beds apparently with a candle for light. Hence why he didn't lock the cells. He couldn't live with himself if someone accidentally set fire to their bed and died in his cells. He also said there's nowhere to hide in NZ. I think you might have the last decent cops left. Rip Charlie Reardon.
