Regulus is the best husband in Re:Zero, he's a great man who stands up for people's rights and is the kindest of all the Sin Archbishops Regulus has had a total of 291 wives yet he clothes them all with pretty uniforms, they're well fed enough to keep their pretty appearances They all live in a really fancy mansion. They all get to go outside on long vacations with their loving husband often when he's off sight finding them new friends to live with and join their ranks He loves them all equally and gives them the same rights as everyone else he marries. What's not to love? Sure he kidnapped all of them, forced them to marry himself without their consent, murdered their friends and family infront of them to break their minds. He proceeded to kill wife after wife infront of them and probably made them clean up the remains to desensitize them to what being his wife entails So there are some minor inconveniences but who needs to sweat such small stuff. A proof of his love an attention is the fact that he gives them all numbers. Think about it. Take every person you've met and replace their names with a specific number between 1-300. Now for the rest of your life try to remember that number for each person without fail. You can't? Well Regulus did. He remembers the names of every wife he has and even killed... And there's a lot of them. To remember the specific number to almost 300 people individually shows the thought and care he puts into his relationships with each wife. Heck we all saw how angry he was when Emilia was frowning saying that she was tired. He admitted his mistake in not noticing she was tired and even tried to kill number 184 who failed to notice that someone who'll become so precious to him was under such duress. In a way Regulus was standing up for Emilia's rights who 184 had violated by overlooking her exhaustion. Compare this to say Garfiel's mom who's husband has gone missing, abandoned her and his family when they need him the most. Such reckless disregard for the rights of his family. Regulus would never do such things. He would rather kill all of his wives to ensure that they wouldn't have to live under such negligence of a lesser husband. Regulus is the best husband of Re:Zero without exception. He's also the biggest supporter of the first amendment and human rights. All he wants is for people to not interrupt him when he talks, is the first amendment not the freedom to speak freely without someone trying to take that right away from him? Interrupting someone when they talk is like trying to rob that right away, one of everyone's very few possessions. Is it wrong for Regulus to want to live without his rights being violated? Sure, he kills anyone who violates those rights but he was granted the ability to do so through his authority of greed. He's simply defending his rights with the powers given to him in the most appropriate method avaliable. Regulus is a kind and selfless man along with being a true symbol of freedom and standing up for your own human rights. Regulus is the most noble and unselfish character in the story. We should all strive to be better. Like Regulus Corneas.

I also like to think that when the title says the most ancient hero, it speaks of the word in a traditional sense, the savior who will always win, of which Reinhard is the epitome of. When it means the newest hero, it speaks of the one who doesn’t have the strength to fight but has the will to continue, the everyday person, and the epitome of that is Natsuki Subaru.

I doubt that's what that means. Al has been weird referencing what happened to Typhon 400 years ago as if he saw it happened and hinted by his insight to how the witch cult think means he has a long history with them. I think it's AL that's the ancient hero.

But Since he's one of the current Re Zero's mystery like many others, it's not strange either if you have theory like that. Re zero always gave mystery or easter egg in early story without giving explanation, so people can have theory But i prefer to talk about now, current story. The main star of this eps clearly about Subaru, which is the newest hero. and the other stars clearly focus refers to Reinhardt's entrance, As an ancient hero

I actually don't think Lilliana would have been the ideal pick here. While her singing is effective, at best it cancels out Sirius' ability. It's not explained super well in the episode, but what they're trying to do is flip Sirius' ability on it's head. The ability is pretty basic at its core: it links and amplifies emotions and sensations between people. Pretty powerful, but at the same time it's limited in the sense that Sirius herself cannot actually control what feelings get shared (though she usually has no problem achieving her desired effects by taking advantage of existing fear or inspiring her own negative emotions by being a weird bandaged psycho). So in theory, if you are somehow able to inspire positive emotions in people linked by the Authority (like hope), it will rebound in the same way and multiplicatively uplift everyone. That's why the speech had to be done by someone who could inspire that hope. And despite appearances, Subaru really is the only one who fits the bill. It's easy to forget since we follow his pov, but he's known across the kingdom as this insane badass who has accomplished multiple impossible feats. He's so famous Lilliana literally wants to record his legend in song. And crucially, he's the only person alive to have defeated an archbishop, which is pretty handy given the current situation. In the people's minds, if anyone can save them it really is either him or Reinhardt.

Yea, just look at his feats in normal people's eyes. Literally within weeks after getting absolutely humiliated in the royal castle, he went on to take down white whale which has been rampant for 400 years, and then be the only one known to have taken down a sin archbishop, and within days, proceed to take down the 2nd great mabeast entirely. These kind of feat by subaru in the people's eye he's probably like Jesus Christ reincarnate, even fucking Reinhardt doesnt have feat like he does. Genuinely ridiculous lmao

I think at its core Re:Zero is a story about love and confronting reality to strive for a better tomorrow. The show has no qualms completely destroying the isekai fantasy with its violent brutality and unfair world mechanics that can shatter one's spirit. But at the same time, it pushes you to hope for the better. Instead of indulging in the shallow fantasy of being given an easier life.. you could work hard to better yourself so you can be the best version of yourself in order to confront the everyday suffering of life head on as a stronger person with also a strong support system. You can't do everything in life alone, but only YOU can do something to make a difference to how you live your life.

Most ancient is probably Reinhard. Metaphorically he is that stereotype of hero with powers coming in all flashy to save the day. Newest is Subaru. In the same vision, he is a new take on the word "hero" with no meaningful powers, but he is able to be the hero for everyone through his personality and mentality. I think Tappei is telling us that through Powers is not the only way/point to be a hero.

Well, it's pretty obvious that it wouldn't be in the LN, since I don't believe you can say that in text. It doesn't even seem to be something that any other character has been able to perceive. Besides, there is an official art of Al without a helmet, and there is also another one that partially shows his face (from the nose down) if I'm not mistaken.

Honestly, I also interpreted Emilia's words to be a cryptic foreshadowing that she really is Satella but there's some kind of weird, time-travel shenanigans at play. I mean, I truly don't know, I'm not a light novel reader or anything. But that's been my personal theory for awhile and her line in this episode about not knowing why she feels so confident just really felt like more important narratively than simply expressing her faith in Subaru. I might be totally overthinking it, but you having a similar thought, joking or not, makes me believe it even more...

(minor spoilers)I just want to point out that there is a lot that disproves Emilia being Satella: 1. Satella kills her in arc 3(though the author confirmed that Satella can only kill Emilia like that), 2. Emilia is implied to be from 100 years ago while Satella is from 400, 3. later on we get a loop with both Satella and Emilia present where Satella tries to kill Emilia like in arc 4. Now I would like to point out that it is still a possibility and much more likely that Emilia is a clone of Satella, as clone are a very important part of the story like the Ryuzu clones who were made to house Echidnas soul and knowledge, two of which go on to become major characters of their own. There is also a line cut out of arc 1 from the web novel that isn't included in the light novel or anime where it is mentioned that cloning magic is said to exist and may even be able to clone non organic material, which also could imply that even Subaru himself may be a clone which would explain why Satella knows him despite being from 400 years prior to his summoning. You should also keep in mind that there are multiple twins in the story like rem/ram, that look nearly identical or completely identical, so it is also a possibility that Emilia may have been frozen prior to her flashback and is actually from 400 years ago and is Satellas sister. Emilia can't be Satella's daughter since Emilia's mother is confirmed to be human.

What Subaru brings in that speech is believing in yourself and those around you ... Again if Reinhart or Anastasia made that speech people would only "Rely on them" .... @@PoyoPoyomfs I think it's more like, if Julius or Ana went up you'd think "man these guys don't know what we're going through, they haven't felt what we're feeling and they think they can pull the wool over our eyes because they aren't in harm's way," especially under the influence of Wrath where those negative thoughts are amplified between people. Subaru on the other hand not only experienced the witch cult's torture firsthand, but he's also been in a place where he cowered in fear and wanted to give up. No other speaker could've appealed to that feeling other than him. And also, in this situation, him being the guy who led the subjugation on the white whale, sloth, and the great rabbit is massive in terms of credibility, probably more so than just being a royal selection candidate or well-established knight.

And that feeling of hope will be shared to everyone around them thanks to the Authority of Wrath. If someone strong like Reinhard were there and said he'll take care of everything now, they might have feelings of spite like "why didn't you do that sooner?!", and that feeling would spiral out of control because of the Authority of Wrath.
