Sam Waterston is one of my favorite actors. Whatever the role, he always delivers an exceptional performance, and he’s still actively working and in demand at age 78. He’s as skilled at comedy (as in “Grace and Frankie”) as he is drama. Everything he does is solid. I never tire of watching him. I loved him as Charlie.

What really got me was when Don looked right at Charlie and lied. Charlie knew he was lying and Don knew he knew. But when Charlie's widow told Don how happy Charlie was when Don refused to bring her to the newsroom, I felt that
@nikunjdixit11755 жыл бұрын
See, that's what I didn't buy. I can totally get Charlie wanting Don to not do the interview but nobody can tell me, from looking at this scene, that Charlie was happy that any of this happened. Charlie was livid at Don, Sloan, and Mac and justifiably so. I can totally understand him hating himself for asking Don to get the Princeton kid but he was really just trying to keep things together until Will came back and they were actively disobeying him.
@alexh86134 жыл бұрын
Except that was a complete lie. Charlie dies right there. And Don tells him that he couldn't find the possible rape victim. There would be no way that Charlie's widow would have known how Charlie felt, as he died before he could talk to her about it

@@alexh8613 Charlie's widow never said he said he was happy "after" Don said he couldn't find her. She said Charlie was counting on him saying no. That means, while Don was given the assignment, while Don went to talk to her, while Don made up his mind to deny Charlie, in short, while Charlie was alive, he told his wife that he wishes Don would deny him when asked about it, and that's what she said to Don. Watch that scene again. She said Charlie was "Counting" on him. Not that Don was happy after he denied. It's Aaron Sorkin. He's not a stupid screenwriter.

Charlie mentions to Sloan that he didn't think he could win this fight with this guy. Before this he was making them do pointless stories to get viewers. He had given up. He knew the next fight would be the death of him so he chose not to fight. But when push came to shove he could never back down. He'd die protecting those he cared about. That was the choice he made. The first time I watched this I was sad that he never got a chance to win. After repeated viewings I realize the important thing was that he decided to try. He was never going to win. It was a futile effort and he did it anyway. He gave his life for his cause and his friends. Sam Waterston is a legend and this show has produced some of my favourite heroes in all of fiction, chief among them Charlie Skinner.

Sam Waterson is such a great actor, that he could depict how a man is building up to a massive heart attack. The panting, the trembling in his voice, the calm before the fall- I’ve seen heart attacks and this is really accurate.

If employees have a really good contract, it's nearly impossible to fire them. Its the reason why Eisner couldn't be fired before the end of his contract was because it had clauses which would nearly bankrupt disney if he were to be fired.
