Not just the Gibbs pick. I'm from Michigan and I remember when they traded away TJ for a 2nd rounder to the Vikings. Everyone on my FB feed was livid and saying the organization was a joke, etc. Now we have LaPorta on a rookie deal for several years and didn't have to pay TJ. And there were other things the Lions did that were criticized but ultimately proved Dan and Brad right. Now those people who were trashing the organization, are acting like they believed in them the entire time

Also they took major shit for drafting Jack Campbell (LB) pick #18 of the same draft. Campbell has been a stud at middle linebacker and will be a major piece of the defense for years to come. I’d love to see Detroit win a SB in my lifetime. The playoffs are a different animal entirely from the regular season. We see wildcard teams almost every year go on the road and push the home team in the divisional and conference title rounds. I definitely see the Eagles, Vikings and Packers all being tough outs on the road no matter whom they play. A healthy Saquon, a very stout Eagles defense. The Packers are very tough on both sides of the ball. The Vikings lost by 2 points in a very evenly matched game. I thought that a healthy Bucs team with Mike Evans and Baker Mayfield could seriously challenge Detroit. I wouldn’t even sneeze on Washington and Jayden Daniels who seems like no moment is too big. My point is yes, Detroit should be the NFC favorite but teams going on the road in the playoffs are playing with essentially house money; there’s no expectations on them to win while a greater team is crushed both by the weight of expectations and by another team playing it’s absolutely peak football. It’s not going to be a cakewalk by any means; look at NFC favorite San Fran last year; a one point win over GB in the divisional round then a comeback for the ages vs Detroit in the conference title game which was a total reversion of what happened in 1957 when the Lions won their last title. They came back with Tobin Rote from a 27-7 defecit in the western conference title playoff to beat SF 31-27. Then the Lions smoked the Browns for their 3rd NFL title of the 50s and their last one I can’t imagine what a Lions SB win would mean for the city of Detroit

Look up the entire Bud Grant era. The Lions routinely missed the playoffs because they could almost never beat the Vikings. The Vikes still dominate the series 80-44-2. I definitely don’t discount the Vikes this season and a playoff game with Detroit being in the division as well. Detroit between 1960-67 went 8-2-2 vs Minnesota and the turning point in the rivalry was 1968 when the Vikes swept them

Det needs to go 13-4 to just to win the Division if GB and Viks can play the rest of thier soft schedules remaining like they should

Another classic case of an NFL or NBA team sacrificing one for the other. Just like Cleveland Cavs right now.

Neither do I. Sure, I've only seen 2 or 3 of their games this year, but they seem pretty ordinary to me.

They're a very, very good team. They're first overall in DVOA by a considerable margin. For the individual units the offense is 3rd, the defense is 3rd and the special teams is 1st. Their point differential thus far is +110 with Buffalo the next closest at +87 and that's with Buffalo having played an extra game.

The lions top out a conference that has no below .500 team and make them all look like they’re some lowly .300 team

Za'Darius Smith has been traded to the Lions. They just got even better.

The AFC winner is the biggest threat. Ravens or Chiefs would be a tough win. Bills is a 50/50 for me.
@Unknown1724 күн бұрын
They will crush the Chiefs IF the Chiefs even make it to the SB. They are CLEARLY the better team.
@tangodelta780924 күн бұрын
@ they are better, but Chiefs know how to win. I would love to see the Lions win it all this season. Just being a bit of a realist with who would give them trouble

The biggest threat to Detroit are themselves as this point. Just wish Hutch was still healthy (scary hours)
@Unknown1724 күн бұрын
I'll go even further: I can't rely on Dan Campbell NOT to make a stupid decision (or two) about whether to kick a field goal or go for a first down instead. "Always be aggressive" is a dumb philosophy in war and in football. Sometimes you need to chill TF out and use your head.

I grew up in Detroit and lions and cowboys are my two favorite teams if lions don’t win I hope jerry Jones builds the cowboys again.

If the 49ers get healthy they're a threat. I think it's more evenly matched despite the 49ers injuries. Lions lost Hutch and the Niners have a better o-line this year

its funny watching people flip flop from ignoring/trashing the lions to slowly building and hyping them up to be the best team in the NFL

This team is legit gonna go 14-3 and that’s assuming they even lose to the bills but honestly worst doomsday case is probably 13-4 and that’s like rock bottom for them lol

As a Seahawks fan, I'm just glad the 49ers aren't the top NFC team anymore, can't stand them and their unbearable fans
