@@thomasbrodie-sangsteredits5971 yes. The kickers use different balls. They used to have so much more time and tools to break them in because a beat up football kicks better than a new football. One of the kickers used to put them in the dryer and let them get super beat up. Well one of those super beat up footballs ended up on brett favres hands by mistake during a very important play and he threw and interception because it had zero grip. Now how the kicking balls are prepared is the regulated. They are taken out of the box before the games and the trainers have one brush and like 30 min to prepare them. Welcome to your first year watching football. I hope you’re enjoying the games. You can’t tell me you’ve watched football in the past if you don’t know about the kicking ball. Back in 1999, the NFL introduced using brand new balls for kicking situations because they got tired of the antics kickers and punters did to their game time balls to prep them. Now the new balls, k-balls, aren’t prepped. They are harder and slicker than regular game balls. At first the NFL wasn’t sure how to handle the kicking balls in game, so they would rotate a dozen in a game, using the first k-ball once, then the second one once, etc so each got used the same amount of times. Then in 2007, the Cowboys lost the WC game because of Romo mishandling a slippery kicking ball. So the NFL switched to using the first k-ball until it was determined to no longer be an option and switching to the second k-ball. K-balls also present other problems when it comes to the refs trying to figure out when a team will need it. A team could get stopped short on 3rd down and the k-ball is brought out, but the team wants to go for it, so the refs have to switch the k-ball out for the game ball.

So far , they haven't received my message.

25 years ago I played with my son and we would wear the receiver gloves mostly because where we lived it was often cold so anyways even back then, wearing walmart's version of a receiver's gloves, they SO increased our ability to catch the ball that I can only imagine how much better the pro gloves they wear today, are than those back then. And honestly I am often left wondering how they can drop some of the passes they drop, when no threat of being hit and those gloves so adapt for catching. IDK, I really am left wondering. I mean they're paid millions to catch a ball maybe 3 to 5 times a game and can't seem to do it at a rate which impresses me. Bring back J. Rice. :)

It's the Democrats fault. They're the ones that cheat.

Well since democrats control the weather related to hurricanes, it must be the republicans responsible for punts gone wrong. Sorry for the political comments, when they stop saying stupid stuff so will I. Go Giants!

Wow, the c e n s o r s at YT are petty. Apparently, you can't say T h e D e m o c r a t s c h e a t , or one of the wokie employees will remove your post.

Nothing here to see, move along . Maybe the snappers and place holders need to wear wide receivers sticky gloves

I used to be a long snapper. I can tell you, they put a new ball in the game for that play. And it wasn't wiped down. There's a bit of a sheen on them that makes the balls slick. The least bit of sweet will cause it to slip. That's why most receivers wear gloves

As a former kicker, I've always felt that the holder was underrated. Kevin Mason, if you're out there, thanks for the good holds big dog!

Kevin's off holding another man's balls now and you're stuck living in the past. So sad.

Packers too had a snapping issue on the last kick of the game, though the kick was successful.

VERY interesting that you posted this...this week..... Check out the 49ers vs Sea game....and if you watch the sidelines....you will see BOTH teams...scrubbing the HELL out of the balls....both sides went to town trying to clean the balls up, and you can see this from the very first snap. Brand new balls....but clearly they are slick...

How many times do holders actually catch it? Many many more times than they drop it

I think we should investigate how you get these super zoomed in close ups of plays no sports network broadcasts. 😁 Nice work, brother. The NFL should create a football grip commission to look into this and put Tom Brady in charge.

Kicker balls are always brand new and marked as K balls. That way, kickers can't doctor them up. New balls are slick.

Read some of the comments. The ball that is used by the quarterback IS different than the ball used for PA or Field goal. Somewhat like in MLB the game ball is artificially "roughed up" for a better grip.

nfl style balls when they lose grip become super slick, but usually they have new ones each game so idk
