The NFL’s Biggest Comedy Act: How The Cleveland Browns Have Never Had A Franchise Quarterback…

Since their return to the NFL in 1999, the Cleveland Browns have desperately been searching for just one franchise quarterback, and every single time they've come up empty, but why? Have the Browns been extremely unlucky, have they mismanaged the talent they've gotten, or does the answer lie somewhere in the middle? Whatever your personal conclusion may be on how they handled the likes of Baker Mayfield, Johnny Manziel, or Tim Couch, join me as we venture into the depths of the Cleveland Browns organization to figure out how still to this day, the Browns have yet to have a real consistent franchise quarterback and why their stretch of misery may never end. Anyway, if you enjoyed this video at all then like and comment if you want, and you can even subscribe if you think I've earned it.
With NFL highlights going over the play of Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, we saw a lot of football analysis ton by people such as Tom Grossi and the Pat Mcafee show to figure out if he's good or not. Thatsgoodsports has also done extensive research on the topic of other football stories NFL players have shared, and hopefully Secret Base can cover the complicated story of urinatingtree soon.

In the '70s, it was the Vikings. In the '80s, the Broncos. In the '90s, the Bills. There haven't been a lot of repeat losers close in time since then-the Patriots lost three times across 11 years, but they also won 6, so that's not really a mark of futility. The 49ers are about the "best" we get in the 32-team, salary-cap era.

It really wasn’t. The browns were injured to hell so their legitimate hopes ended when Deshaun went out for the season after the ravens game. So the fact that they were even there after all of their injuries, coming out of the hardest division, and having to start 5 QBs total was an achievement, and proved the team is bought in to the front office and what they have going. Baker Mayfield going to the Browns was the best and the worst thing that could have happened. On one end, he was the perfect jolt for that franchise and could have had more playoff chances with that team. @@manzac112 his mechanics weren’t that screwed up. He was still able to throw and insisted on doing it. In the 1960's and maybe into the 70's, they had a QB named 'Ryan' ... I can't think of his first name now ... but he lasted a handful of years ... Jim Brown was the FB in those days.

Was watching the dynasty documentary and realized something. Belichick benched kosar and it led to turmoil for the qb position for the browns till, well i guess joe flacco. He benched bledsoe and it led to the Patriots dynasty. An eye for an eye.

When this many QBs fail, you KNOW it isn't the QB... It's the ineptitude around him making it nearly impossible to succeed. Baker is in the process of making that abundantly clear.

As a Toledo native that thinks Cleveland is a cesspool...it's really interesting how popular Cleveland sports teams are compared to Cincinnati. Like I've seen so many Browns and Indians jerseys growing up, but NEVER see any repping yhe Bengals or Reds.

It's crazy just how bad the Browns have been as an institution at picking QBs. It genuinely is hard to get a top QB, but it feels like they have actively tried to avoid doing so. When you look at Chicago, another cursed franchise, at least they look like they are TRYING at QB. A big trade to get Cutler, trading up to draft Tribiski, trading up to get Fields. And none of these were huge successes but these are guys who at least start for a few years. When the Browns are in the same situation, they take Manziel and Hoyer, outrageous choices that were clearly doomed to fail. Even going after Watson; where they give up too much and overpay him; it's just... No, Browns. No. That's not a good idea. I genuinely think the only sensible move they have made in decades is when they drafted Colt McCoy in the third round, and he was unexciting but somewhat competent. McCoy is stayed in the league until last year, by the way. He played meaningful snaps in Arizona. How many other Browns QBs were even still backups?

It's simply a matter of thinking a QB can fix a team. First, you have to build a team, then go get your QB. It took a long time for the Browns to learn that and they ended the careers of some promising QB's before they got started. Sadly, they seem to have reverted to their old habits with Manziel and the mismanagement of Mayfield and are now stuck with Watson.
