Could NFL Europe surive today with streaming? Why or why not?
@DioChicken8 ай бұрын
It probably could but with the ELF in place there’s absolutely no way it comes back. The hope is the ELF gets a strong partnership with the NFL to help with the growing pains
@XDrang938 ай бұрын
Rhein is pronounced "Rhine", not "Rain".

@DioChicken I'm actually kinda hoping the ELF does well enough to be able to tell the NFL to fuck off. Tall order, I know. Still...
@gs43958 ай бұрын
The old league would never survive. I mean, the realistic possibility of the ELF is to expand across Europe, into cities like Dublin, Stockholm, or cities in the SE of Europe itself.

I think time constraints would be tough... Games wouldn't be at the times that are reasonable for us to watch...

I used to love watching NFLE when I was an insatiably football hungry middle schooler, especially the Galaxy. Was so sad when it shut down.

I used to pull for all the teams that had packers players, I remember there was a wide out who played for Amsterdam, Chad Lucas. That dude probably should've made a roster in the NFL. And also, Atari Bigby ended up becoming a starting safety for Green Bay

The closest we have to NFL Europe nowadays is the European League of Football. Some of the ELF teams use the same names and colors as their NFL Europe counterparts.

I remember i meet an offensive lineman that played in Germay in the Europe league. This had to be 2006 or 2007 right whenever it was coming to an end he told me that he was working out and trying to make an NFL roster he got married to a captain in the Air Force while he was overseas That's how he was able to get on base and work out

The mid-2000's era Arena Football League was awesome. They had a good tv deal, lots of teams and tons of talent. It's a shame how quickly it fell apart.

1998 Kurt Warner played for the Amsterdam Admirals. The St. Louis Rams were big on sending QB to NFL-Europe. Jamie Martin also would play there. I remember watching the last regular season game, The Rhein Fire loose to Frankfurt in order for the three teams to end with a 7-3 tie. With that win Frankfurt had the tie breakers over Amsterdam and the Fire won the World Bowl '98 34-10. The 1998 NFL season Warner was behind Tony Banks & Steve Bono. Warner was an exposed Ram for the Browns expansion Draft in '99.
@brianknapp62152 ай бұрын
Warner led the League in touchdowns and passing yards that year as well, and his backup in Amsterdam was another future NFL starter- Jake Delhomme. As an aside- I'm glad the Browns didn't take Warner in the Expansion Draft (I guess they were already planning on going all-in on Tim Couch) because he would have had zero protection and no one to throw to...

All dreams of the NFL ever running a professional league in Europe again can be forgotten after the abysmal failure of the NFL Europe. The NFL now focuses on playing single regular games in Europe, which is probably way more profitable for them. The ELF will probably be all we have concerning professional football in Europe in the near future.

The great Adam Vinatieri played in what was then the World League of American Football. Scottish Claymores, Amsterdam Admirals, London Monarchs for example. Eventually that became mostly German cities during the final days.

People come from all over the world to play USA sports for USA MONEY........... But they dont come here to play football. Let that sink in.......... No 6'5 300+ guys coming here to be linemen No rugby players coming over to be RB, FB, LB, WR, SS, ST. No track stars coming here to return kickoffs or catch passes or be a DB. No world class throwing arms coming here to be QBs. The whole rest of the world cringes at our american football. They knew at some point some damning medical research would state the obvious......... that the human brain cannot withstand these repeated violent collisions. Its too much. Theyre comin here to play baseball, basketball, hockey, YOU NAME IT, but nobody wants the American football LIFE. PERIODPOINTBLANK

I think it’s time for the NFL to invest in the ELF. The league has shown that it has potential, but without massive external funding it will go the same way as the NFL Europe. This would be a win win situation.
@torstenscholz62434 ай бұрын
The ELF already is in trouble. Leipzig and Istanbul are already gone, Prague went bankrupt, but somehow managed to stay in the league, at the moment Barcelona is in massive trouble and will probably the next in line. Only the German and Austrian teams seem to be doing okay, but even that isn't guaranteed as Leipzig shows.

Stan Gelbaugh (Maryland) was the MVP of the first Season. A 6th round draft pick in 1986 that was on the Buffalo Bills taxi squad for years. Was selling copiers by 1990, and after the WLAF season was able to make some starts for the Phoenix Cardinals due to injuries.

First you had the Sacramento Surge, winner of the 2nd and last World Bowl, that included David Archer as it's quarterback. Then that folded so Owner Fred Anderson move the franchise into the CFL when it expanded into the US briefly to become the Sacramento Gold Miners. Then they moved to San Antonio as the Riders but had to change their name to the Texans because the CFL had 2 teams named the Rough Riders. And it all fell apart after 3 years.

Grew up watching NFLE and my passion for football was born in the purple hell of Frankfurt Galaxy. They'd been around for so long (let's ignore they were called Universe for some years) and are even in the ELF now. The good thing about ELF is that finally manage to really develop homegrown talent, however, there is still an issue with the competive balance, for sure.

I don’t understand how people watch a football game and then go back And watch a soccer game, the MOST BORING Sport I’ve ever Seen. When a 90 minute 0-0 or 1-0 game is “thrilling“ it means ur sport is boring. When the best part of your game is guys flopping around, faking injuries to their shins your sport is boring.
