Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! And the sealing; I was inspired to dig out my Kaweco Sports (I had a stretch of collecting them, had to have a self-intervention) and yes indeed they all started or only had the briefest of hard starts. Now it seems I might need another intervention.

As a pen-noob of 3 months I have Kaweco Sport and Lamy Safari. The sport is my favorite because I have very small hands. My 10 year old son loves the sport. Started with the pens and inks as a way to make cursive writing more fun at home. Since cursive is no longer taught in school I do it at home. He likes choosing the ink color himself. He pushes a bit hard on the pens sometimes. However I am perfectly ok with a few safari nibs or a sport going to an early grave if he just learns to write well and sees the fun in it. A substitute teacher said his handwriting was better than some of the High School students she had.

Just A Friendly FYI Galen Leather also had this limited/exclusive color a couple of years ago. Plus it also had the same trim but instead of Goldspot it reads Galen. Seems the only difference is the gold lettered name.

Hi, I have one of those Galen Leather ones and it looks to be the same. However, in reality it's probably a different hue of purple but only slightly to keep the collectors collecting those different versions. Though, I must say even the Goldspot version is very nice, I do love the amethyst colour.

This pen is just gorgeous. I can’t wait to get one. What I do is use an ink syringe to fill the cartridge that comes with the pen. Kaweco really needs to revamp their converters. Not a fan, but I have that work around.

Great video DB. Like you I’m becoming a fan of the Kaweco Sport. They do offer a 1.5 stub, a 1.1 stub and I think a 1.9, well here in the UK anyway. I’m running 4 Kaweco Sports as EDC’s and they’re perfect for the job. Thank you.

Nice fountain pen. About mini converters, I usually fill em with a blunt needle and push it a little at the end. No air, instant readiness 😅. I'm always worried about Kaweco clips scratching the pen when installing it.

BB nib is part of their standard offerings. They also make a Premium nib, which is a bit smoother, perhaps most noticeably on less smooth paper. In my experience, the BB standard and the B Premium produce lines of the same thickness. This is with 8x magnification (but don't bet your house on it: I don't have your engineer's equipment). I like both nibs a lot. One is on an Al Sport, the other on a Dia 2, a modestly elegant pen.

Hi, I have a Galen Leather purple one and I just refill my cartridges with a syringe Summer Purple. What I like about that method is, if I use it as a daily carry and I run out in my refilled cartridge I just grab a Summer Purple from a pack of cartridges and off I go again, then I use the bottle at home. Such a great little daily carry EDC pen. Next I want to try going bike-packing with a travellers notebook and a Kaweco Sport seeing how these go with the bike luggage. Chelsea c:

Great video. Thanks for the review 😊. I simply love my Kaweco Sport pens! I have 7 Sport fountain pens and one ballpoint in white. They always work and hardly ever dry out. And because of seeing your review, I instantly went to Goldspot and ordered one of these in fine nib with the converter. I already have a couple of extra pocket-clips. The plastic Sport fountain pens can be eye-droppered. I did that to my demonstrator and regretted it. So now I only use a converter or a cartridge. It is definitely a beautiful pen, and it's in my birth stone, perfect. By the way, Waterman's Tender Purple and Pelikan's 4001 Violet look like perfect matches. Cheers😊.

While im not the the largest fan of my Kaweco sport, i have been looking for a nice purple pen. Just would be nice if the AL Sport came in that color as well. But I'll give it credit, i haven't used it in months, but it started right up this last time that i did go to it. If it had a silver trim, and you used a broader nib, Glistening cat would be great for it.

Try the Jacques Herbin Violet Imperial Les encres 1670 golden sheen enhanced ink in that Kaweco. I think you'd like it very much.

Wonderful looking pen. That purple is great. For a super-fill I stop drawing up the piston at halfway, invert, finish drawing in air forcing ink out of the feed into the converter, then do like you do. Wastes less ink. I recently got a Kaweco Sport from Wonder Pens to see what all the hype is about. While a very nice pen and I've used it a lot in the last couple of weeks, it doesn't quite meet the expectations I've had from the hype. I do like it, just not as much as I thought I would.

Hi DB! The sport is a pen I have yet to own, but have been looking at them. Have been more than satisfied with my Kaweco Perkeo, which I got a clip for as I carry it in my shirt pocket when I use it. I think an aluminum one anodized in a similar purple would be STUNNING!

Was looking out for a purple pen, and this one hits the right notes for me. That said, shipping to Toronto will be an issue, but should Goldspot have any other merch, I might reconsider. This Kaweco would go well with Troublemaker Purple Yam, and Private Reserve Ebony Purple in my collection. For a completely Pimp My Pen pick would be Diamine Leap of Faith with crazy sheen, a Phidon Pens exclusive ink, a Canadian pen shop to boot.

I have wound up with a number of Kaweco Sport pens. I pretty much restricted myself to the Skyline series, except for the metal series. I do have the basic Al Sport in just raw aluminum. the Steel Sport, and the Brass Sport. I have two of the previous Goldspot/Kaweco collabs in translucent blue and translucent gray. All are my preferred EF nibs. FOMO made me break down and jump on this Royal Amethyst.

Hey DB! Watching the video reminded me to ask you this question. (the close up of the Kaweco nib tip) I would love to purchase a microscope or loop that will let me 1) examine nib tips and 2) examine the edges of wood carving knives to see the edge sharpness. I have see stand alone devices. Not sure if any of them are any good. The loop I have works on the nibs but not a knife edge. Got any suggestions? Being the engineer you are... Thanks.

These will only fit an international small cartridge or a mini-converter. Montreverde makes an all plastic one which is cheaper than the Kaweco mini-converter, but the quality is not the same. For me the little bit extra for the Kaweco is definitely worth it. But it's just my personal preference and recommendation. Best wishes😊.

It looks so small in your hand in the first few shots. I wish they gave it a purple cartridge instead of the standard blue, that's a very minor thing though. Vtg kaweco sports used to use a piston filling system. Why don't they do this anymore? I don't see pocket pens with integrated filling systems these days, it sounds like a good way to get a high ink capacity in such a small pen, of course you can eyedropper these modern ones though. I know on the regular sport they offer a BB nib. Do you have any idea how many of these there will be? It's a limited edition, but of how many? Usually I feel like the words 'Limited Edition' is a companies excuse to blast the price through the roof, glad to see this one isn't that way.

If you want internal filling pocket pens there are actually quite a few options. TWSBI have a couple, opus 88 have some eye droppers with shutoff valves (those have insane ink capacity for a small pen), I think majohn has a few eye droppers

Can I get some advice? This is my second Kaweco, and the threads cut into my middle finger because I hold it low. Is it possible that you can use thin Washi tape like real close to plumbers tape to still get the cap on? Btw I am running eye dropper and I have it in BB, and Diamine Rainbows End from the Inkvent 2023, so far so good, wrote just fine out of the box.
