Thank you for the mention! I will be able to share some better images now; I've since collimated my scope and working on refining my processing technique.

The annular eclipse is a great warmup and practice for that total solar eclipse next April. Get that eye protection, and maybe put away an extra set for next year!!

Enjoy your vids each month. Just curious about your own plans to see the big one in April. Where do you plan to go?

Something about the October sky is special. Temps start to come down, Saturn/Jupiter are shining, and skies feel so clear. @@LateNightAstronomy

Thanks Michael for another great video. I appreciate the time and effort that you put into this wonderful hobby. I was wondering though...When you say "larger telescope" , what size telescope are you talking about? I have an 8" dobsonian just like the one you have shown in your earlier videos.

Good question. I have viewed every deep sky object in this video with an 8 inch dobsonian under a bortle 5 sky.

In your expert opinion, Will I have to drive 2 hrs to San Antonio to get some good shots of the ring of fire, or will my position 2 hrs east, be good to go?
@LateNightAstronomy
@LateNightAstronomy Жыл бұрын
The ring of fire will only be visible under the exact path shown in this video. Anyone outside of that path will only see a partial soalr eclipse. Either way, you need to wear solar glasses and if you are shooting with a DSLR don't look through the viewfinder of it at the sun even during the peak of this eclipse. Best of luck with your solar observing.

Awesome, you forgot the partial lunar eclipse! No worries!

Yeah, I had it in the original script for the video but it got cut during editing because I could not find any NASA graphics to show it. It's only a small part of the Moon getting covered by the darkest part of the Earth's shadow on the 28th. Nice catch and thanks for mentioning it for others to research if they have an interest. Clear skies!

It's pretty much unobservable now from most locations due to how close it is to the sun. It's possile to maybe get some views of in in the Southen Hemisphere in the South East before sunrise later this month, but still very close to the horizon.
