This is the kind of performance that makes me so happy I wrote it! Love the stove in the background. Beautiful! And now for a tech geek question if you're up for it: how did you record and mix it? (what mics, processing)
@LearningtheHarp7 жыл бұрын
Wow, I'm so touched to have a comment from the mastermind behind this stunning song!! Thank-you for writing it - it's such a privilege to sing this song. Hopefully someday I've be able to see you perform it live. I record my audio with two RodeNT1 microphones, set up in stereo and plugged straight into the camera. I used to record singing and harp separately to have more control over the mix, but these days I keep it really simple and record all the audio and video at the same time - I like the feeling of "performing live" for my videos even though it doesn't allow for as much detail in post production. After recording I export the audio into ProTools to do a bit of equalisation and add a bit of reverb... nothing too fancy :)

It's a nice song! You did good on it! And I notice it's really popular with all sorts of amateur (and maybe pro) harpists/harpers. I've seen more videos of this song on my feed lately! Lol😁

I can't believe you can move that fast on an Ogden! Don't they have really high string tension? Super impressive :)
@LearningtheHarp4 жыл бұрын
Haha yes it is very high tension!! Sometimes I exhaust my fingers 😅 For example in Clocks or Lark on the Strand or Butterfly Jig - you can see those videos online too. When performing on the Ogden I put the fast pieces near the end of a concert because I get tired afterwards.

Who will sing for the Nightingale when the night is gone; when the daylight comes. Who will sing for the Nightingale when she sleep alone in the sun? Many's the time her silken tones soothed my rough and weary bones Many's the time her lullabye brought me to my rest. But who will sing for the Nightindale? Her own sweet song is silent now Who will sing for the Nightingale when she sleep alone in the sun? (Harp interlude) Many's the time her silken tones soothed my rough and weary bones Many's the time her lullabye brought me to my rest. But who will sing for the Nightindale? Her own sweet song is silent now Who will sing for the Nightingale when she sleep alone in the sun? when she sleep alone in the sun?

Oh my god- it gave me chills! Your voice is so beautiful!! Which I didn’t expect. 😅 I didn’t imagine the voice could go so matchy with the harp playing. I’m from Asia and just started to learn mini harp a month ago and getting some more information. I just got to know of this channel 2 days ago and it’s amazing. Thank you for the informative videos! I love your way of teaching and your lively facial expressions! I’m so thankful that I got to have opportunity to learn harp in my late 30’s😊. I thought it was too late to learn any instruments in my age but when I saw a mini harp online a few months ago - I heard DESTINY~🎵 ringing in my ear. 🤣 I only got 5 personal lessons so far but I would like to improve a lot without worrying about a little bit of expensive fees.🥲I just can’t wait to try out your online courses someday! But the note we usually call is different as we use do re mi….style so when you say C D E… it’s somehow a little confusing. I could understand though it takes some time for me. 😅
@LearningtheHarp2 жыл бұрын
Aw I’m so glad you’re learning harp! You’re not very old, there are people MUCH older who are learning for the first time! I think you will be able to adjust to learning with the letter names instead of do re mi. Maybe you can give it a try with our free trial, and see how it goes? You will get one course free which you can keep forever 😊

Great song! Very beautiful. Can I ask where your pedal harp has been? I don't think it's been in a video since the unboxing, has it? Sorry if you've addressed this elsewhere :)
@LearningtheHarp7 жыл бұрын
Hi JamieDanger! Thanks for the comment :) I've experienced complications with getting insurance for my pedal harp, so I didn't want to promote it on KZbin until I was ready to start performing with it in "real life"... I'm not moving that thing until I'm 100% sure it's covered by insurance!! :D But we're tying up the final loose ends this week so I will start working on a video. Thanks for asking!
