Having that top panel on an entry level DSLR or Mirrorless is underrated. You'd be lucky to get a tictac size top LCD. I wish there was a way for us to pop the internals into an FM2 body

Cameras are expensive and if tariffs are coming, they will be even more expensive. Great video. I did buy a D80 and even though I have newer Nikon DSLRs, the vintage Nikons are awesome.

Yeah, those tariffs will probably start making these older DSLRs become more expensive, maybe. But yes! If i see these older DSLRs on sale, i am definitely grabbing one.

Relax, the threat of tariffs is a negotiating tool. We will get Japan to reduce the tariffs of American products sold in Japan and get the Japanese to pay more for their own defense.
@BoostLeekdMedia
@BoostLeekdMedia 4 күн бұрын
@@1225KPH Who pays for the tariffs? Even if it is a "negotiating tool", raising tariffs means we (the consumer) will have to pay more for the product IF the tariff is actually raised, correct? So, IF the tariffs do actually go up, we (the consumers) have to pay the extra costs from the sellers. The Japan Yen is extremely weak already so the tariff would benefit Japan more than it would USA, right?
@1225KPH
@1225KPH 4 күн бұрын
@@BoostLeekdMedia Wrong. There won't be any tariffs. You need to stop watching MSNBC and CNN. During Trump's first term, two goals were to get Mexico to help stop illegal immigration to the United States and have more automobiles built in America. Step 1: Threaten Mexico with 25% tariff on all automobiles imported into the USA from Mexico.Hell, threaten 25% tariff on EVERYTHING imported from Mexico. This scares the crap out of Mexico and all auto companies with factories in Mexico sending cars to America. Several automobile companies stoppede plans to build factories in Mexico and built new plants in the USA instead. Step 2: Tell Mexico if you don't want tariffs on cars built in existing Mexican factories, send 29,000 Mexican troops to control the northern and southern Mexican borders to stop illegals from South America and Mexico from entering the USA. This is EXACTLY what happened. Mexico spent their money on policing their borders and cutting illegal immigration to the USA. Step 3: This is what allow trump to say, "I'll build a wall and Mexico will pay for it." The lying Democrats and media claimed this never happened because Mexico didn't write a check for the wall. Mexico did, however, spent hundreds of millions of dollars policing their borders. The USA didn't spend hundreds of millions of dollars putting the National Guard on our Southern border. May I point out even though American soldiers make more money than Mexican soldiers, MEXICO SPENT WAY MORE MONEY GUARDING OUR BOARDER AND STOPPING ILLEGALS COMING INTO MEXICO FROM SOUTH AMERICA THAN WE DID BUILDING THE WALL. Therefore, Mexico paid for the wall. No tariffs were put on Mexican built cars. Ford and Volkswagen kept building cars in Mexico. Mexicans stayed employed. Ford and Volkswagen built new plants in America and put more Americans to work. Trump achieved the lowest level of illegal immigration in years and put it on a graph. You know, the graph he turned to in Bulter, PA just as would be assassin shot him. This was a win for everybody. You have to remember America is the biggest market for most overseas companies. This is a huge negotiating lever? Want to keep selling Nikons in the USA? Make it possible for us to sell American cars in Japan. Japan plays very sneaky games. A few years ago, Japan had no tariffs on American cars and they would boast about it. Why were so few American cars sold in Japan? Japan forced American cars to be individually tested and inspected before being sold in Japan. This added expense, plus a lot of B.S. red tape DOUBLED the price of American cars in Japan yey Japan didn't tariff American cats. Try importing American produce into Japan. Same B.S. inspections and red tape. Look at what happened since the election. Trump threatened to tariff EVERYTHING coming from Mexico and Canada. The President of Mexico said, "F.U." The Prime Minister of Canada said, "F.U." A few days later, they both caved. Mexico agreed to stop illegals heading to America. The Head Weenie Beta-Male from Canada actually flew to Mar-a-Lago to beg Donald Trump not to impose tariffs and agreed to police the Canada/USA border. Hell, Trump told him, and it's on video, that if Canada couldn't handle a 25% tariff on everything exported to the USA, Canada might be allowed to become our 51st state and maybe we would allow Trudeau to be governor. That's how you negotiate. A lot of countries tariff the crap out of our goods. Their economies are more dependent on selling in the USA than our economy is on selling our stuff overseas. THEY NEED US MORE THAN WE NEED THEM.Threatening tariffs on their goods will lead to lower tariffs on our exports. Just a wild guess: you don't have an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, finance or economics. If you do, you got it from a woke school.

The D3000 was the last Nikon DSLR with a CCD sensor. It is said that it uses the same sensor from the D80.
@dct124
@dct124 22 күн бұрын
Yes, same sensor from the D200 as well. However both the D3000 and D80 and all 10mp CCD cameras were inferior to the D200. I think Nikon just put a better algorithm in the D200. They tried pushing the D3000 too far and you can tell the difference in quality having a whole stop of more noise. I think the D40 or D70 were the ones to buy. If you wanted 10mp you definitely want to have a D200.

I bought the D40 when it was released in 2006, I used it for a couple of years but then bought a D80 in 2009 I think it was, at the same time I bought the Nikkor AF 18-105mm lens and the Nikkor AF 55-200mm lens, I used it until around 2016 when Canon released the Eos 80D because I needed to be able to make videos. Since 2-3 years back I only using my iPhone 13 Pro for both 4K videos and pictures, but I did find my old Nikon D80 in my storage the other day, its been there for almost 9 years, thought it could be cool to try it out again, so I am charging the batterys right not at this very moment. But I almost never cary around a DSLR anymore, it's mostly my iPhone I use. Maybe would be cool to have a lens that actually works good in low light situations. Any suggestions ? Thanks for the video.

The one lens that pops into my mind immediately is the Tamron 17-50 F/2.8. If you need better lowlight, Sigma's 18-35 F/1.8 is also another one but it's rare to see a used Sigma 18-35 F/1.8 under $350. The Tamron 17-50 F/2.8, you will be able to find for WELL under $150 used. I guess it just depends on your budget and your style of photography. Thanks for sharing! It's cool to read your photography/video journey! I ALMOST switched to Sony a few years ago (2013-2014) because of their mirrorless system and video.

If you're using 3rd party batteries. If they don't fit, just take some electrical tape and wrap the back side to give it friction and size. Using 3rd party batteries can expand the battery compartment and you'll have to make adjustments.

Don't screw up you camera. Quality 3rd party batteries like Wasabi Power work just fine.
@dct124
@dct124 5 күн бұрын
@1225KPH That's what I use. Even these batteries will slightly expand your battery compartment. It's very very very minimal, but will do it eventually. You take a piece of electrical tape to your standard battery and just lay it on top in the groove of the battery. It's just there for friction on the interior plastic. Been doing this for 2 decades, going on 3. I think I'm good.

@@dct124 I dispose lithium batteries when they get to 5 years of age. Nikon, Wasabi, every brand. If a li-on battery is swelling, it's damaged. If it's damaged, it can go into thermal runaway. It burns at 4,000F.

Looking back now. You can tell Nikon used all these other cameras that were APS-C as a loss leader for the D200. They stripped those bodies so much. They didn't even have the full Kelvin range. Would that extra $500-$700 be worth it? Yes. The D200 reliability alone makes it well worth every penny when it was new. The 00 digit Nikon's all had quality issues. Maybe that's why they switched to 3000, 5000 and 7000 series. But shoot even those had issues 😅 Pretty much the D200, D300, D300s, D500 were the models to buy. I'd buy one with over 100k clicks knowing it'll last close to 1m as long as you're not railing off a 1/8000s all the time.

@BoostLeekdMedia Z50 and Z50ii are the D500 replacement. Outside of dual memory card slots and memory type, they're the replacements for the D500. Technically the Z8 is the successor to the D500. Crop into DX mode and it's a genuine D500 upgrade with IBIS, FX, 8K video, superior AF, frame rate, etc. I doubt Nikon will make a $2k DX camera with Z6iii or Z8 capabilities.
@dct124
@dct124 21 күн бұрын
@@BoostLeekdMedia Specs wise the Z50ii is the D500 without a second card slot. Same exact 200 image buffer, UHS II. Faster AF, better video, better lenses, better image quality. 30fps high speed silent. I've used a single memory card my entire 30 year career as a photographer. 0 card failures. Compact Flashcard, UHS I, UHS II. Even micro SD cards, I've had 0 failures. I think the Z30ii copy the Z50ii but with 2 card slots. So if Nikon doesn't give it a EVF, they need to make a detachable EVF.

That's a pretty good budget. Depending on what kind of photography you're doing, a used D7000 is probably a excellent start. You can find a used D7000 for under $200 (depending on the condition it's in). Then, you can get a decent lens like the Tamron 17-50 F/2.8 lens for well under $200. Here's a video I did on that lens and camera here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYa8hYeta8-ijq8si=Z_1M6yNC_C8V3VXK I hope this helps!
