This is a good song, because it captures the feelings these castaways would be experiencing during the whole sequence of events this painting depicts. It begins calm and almost somber, showing the desperation of castaways lost at sea on just the wreckage of a mast as they wonder if they'll get rescued before their raft sinks or before they die of dehydration. Then the song picks up in intensity: the waves are coming, the castaways hold on as each wave sloshes over them and threatens to sweep them away. Maybe some fall off and sink into the water, but most make it. The song calms for a bit: the sailors think the worst is over. Then it really picks up in intensity again, as the Ninth Wave comes. There's a delay between it and the others, because it's so massive. Surely this will be the one that ends them? All the sailors can do is hold for dear life and maybe offer prayers that God might save them. As it approaches the intensity increases. Then it comes, and the song calms down and fades out. Maybe the wave toppled them and they all sank beneath the water, or maybe they survived it and continued to drift along calm waters again. The painting included sunlight behind the wave to show that there was at least a forlorn hope of them making it.

This song shows true talent. I love the way the different layers of the song seem to fit perfectly. There are no choppy transitions in this song. There music is amazing!
