One of the Best videos I have ever watched here on KZbin in regards to "gripping the golf club" hands down! Very informative, very well done!

Alex, I had to come back after giving this a go. The thumbnail really clued me in to this being the fix because it looks exactly how I used to hold the club! The over-exaggeration was crucial for me developing the right feel and after a few swings I realized that the grip change also changes the plane of the backswing because of how to wrist hinges and I was hitting shots with less than 500 RPM of side spin consistently (which is a beautiful sight to see after having over 1000 and even 2000 before this video!). I also wanted to call out that your editing style was really engaging and although this isn't a channel with the budget of Good Good your entertaining personality and easy to implement information has earned you a loyul Sub!! Thank you so much and I can't wait to take this new grip and swing out onto the course :) You Rock!

thanks! the two extremes of a strong and then switch to a weak grip are such a good way to explain it and find the middle ground. can litterally see the club path change between the two then the middle ground seems obvious! 👍

I draw the hell out of my irons and hit my driver straight. I think the ping g425 is incredibly forgiving, though. Ny grip is super tight. All my gloves are worn at the bottom right of my left palm.

Thanks for this video. I suffer from this. I am wondering though if changing the grip is a quick fix or a more permanent solution? I always thought I just wasn’t coming shallow enough or not keeping the top of my left hand out at impact. Thanks!

Hi Alex, thank you for another great start to the day. I’ve never been one to hook however slicing yes. Your tips however have taken this out of my game where I’m possibly drawing the ball now occasionally, however hitting it straighter with much more confidence and control. Instead of aiming it left to accomodate the slice. 👍😎🇦🇺

If changing your grip is uncomfortable you need to put the club more in your fingers and less in your hand/palm

I’d much rather hit a hook than a slice. Need some clarification on something I watched a video on. Pertains to the grip. I watched a video that an instructor stated you should never grip a club while the club was soled on the ground, or never start your backswing while the club is soled on the ground. I never heard an explanation as to why this is? Can you do a video or give an reason why. I personally like to grip the club while not on the ground. I grip the club the way you have shown in your videos. Sorry for the long question.

my issue is that with a strong grip i hit my irons dead straight, but i hook my driver..do you have tips for this or can i just weaken my grip for my driver? (i am afraid that it will mess with my irons when it comes time to hit them r will not really work with my driver)

My suggestion is to have a clean solution for both iron and driver. Leave no inconsistency.

Hi. This has been a killer for me. Have you got any drills to help with correcting the grip from strong to neutral? I've had a strong grip for years and was always able to manage to drive the ball fine, but in the last two years ive been constantly getting this low left hook and cant get rid of it. The Driver doesn't even come out of the bag anymore. The feeling of moving from a strong grip to a neutral grip is very alien right now and was wondering if there are drills to help with this, or is it a case of just practicing and persevering? Thanks.
@hunterornotАй бұрын
I saw a video about how to drill for the neutral grip. Basically twist both hands as if you are squeezing a towel until you find the "neutral" position before you swing.

I had a friend once who told me to fix my slice by having a really strong grip and it did not go well. Clubface was so closed upon impact that the ball went off the side of my leg and straight down the range

You game cobra...are king forged tec irons similar to ap3's? I currently game AP3's, but I know someone who'd swap his forged tec for my ap3's, just not sure if those are more blade like/less forgiving. I'm a 10-12 handicap for what it's worth.

You are right with probably 90 percent of golfers but the other ten percent and I am in that 10 ten percent. I tried very Hard with the standard grip to get my club face square at impact I gave up kept strengthening my grip until I was squared at impact and my grip very strong I can see all knuckles. The thing about it hit the ball straight now. Go figure 🤔
@renegade28533 жыл бұрын
Yeah, neutral grip for many people leaves the face open. Many on tour use a strong grip. 💪🏼
@eggztract7713 Жыл бұрын
ive struggled with this for years. i have a natural tendency to hook. The issue is when i weaken my grip, my thumbs literally slip off the club when i swing. I cannot comprehend how you can possibly swing a club with a weak grip.

Ignore everyone that tells you to change your grip from strong to anything else. The problem every single teacher creates by giving this advice, and compounding more problems moving forward, is they don’t even know how to properly strong grip themselves so they try and deviate everyone away from strong grip. The proper way to strong grip, lead hand all knuckles or 4 showing, and the trail hand (the one everyone having issues gets wrong and is the source of the mistakes) has to match the club face… basically it’s more in a neutral position. A good way to know you got the grip proper, lead thumb should be covered dead center with trail palm, this prevents the dreaded hook. Most people put their trail hand too under the club, causing early closing of the club face. Making trail hand more neutral corrects this. Another important point these teachers get wrong, is the grip/wrist relationship. At the top of the swing, your lead wrist should be cupped. Not bowed or perfectly flat. Those other two shapes are for weak or neutral grips. Unfortunately most teachers don’t understand these concepts, or haven’t researched enough… so they are vague about what’s actually happening with strong grip, and just try their hardest to influence you to change your grip all together, creating even more problems. In my opinion, and many far hitting pros opinion, strong grip hits exponentially farther and straighter than all three grip positions. Paired with a correct interlock, you’ll have much higher club head speeds, and you don’t have to roll and wrists or manipulate your timing/wrist motion. Strong grip allows you to have quite wrists, and in strong grip position you are able to load and snap wrists about 45% more than any other. It’s why most long driver pros choose strong grip. Scientifically, it’s far more superior. If a strong grip feels natural to you, DO NOT change your grip. You are very welcome,
