What I have captured from some interviews is that he looked like a rather shy guy. I hadn't imagined him as egocentric as he was described here. He said somewhere people found him strange from early age, but in the end he managed to "sell" his oddness and turn it to his profit. How clever. He definitely had an artistic vision and clearly knew where he wanted to go and that might have given him confidence. Also I noticed his face could change expressions very quickly from smiling / looking natural to wearing that mask face. I think wearing make up and playing a character helps hiding personal insecurities. He sure was convinced of his talent - luckily, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten there in such a short time - and he wouldn't have kept it going until the end. Me too, I'm astonished there was no further collaboration with Bowie, I see a number of similarities. I see Klaus Nomi very well doing some experimental jazz like late Bowie. I'm happy YT gives us the possibilities to discover treasures like this and not to forget about those artists. They were there for a reason 😘

Bowie appeared to be quite self centered. He discovered people and fostered them as long as they stayed in his shadow, under his wing. He must have know that would have not been the case with Nomi if he made it big. He would not have been a feature in his shows, but a competitor.

Be proud of your heritage. Just because some people or groups did wrong, did terrible things, that does not make an ethnic group or an individual a bad person. Look at world events now. Several groups in several countries are acting in terrible ways. It doesn't mean everyone from there is bad. It only means some people do wrong or fall under the sway, the spell, of someone telling them wrong is right. Throughout history, many groups have been like that, while many others did the right thing and went on to make things right again. Maybe the lesson from current world events is that no nation or group is immune from the possibility of doing serious wrong, serious harm. Or that the need to do what's right stays strong, urgent.

Hello, sorry, can't change the subtitle, yes it's dubbed over in German as always in documentaries, and movies are lip-synchronized by german actors. that's sometimes very strange and funny, for example in musicals, when sound of voice changed suddenly.

@@RobertNiedermeier hi Robby thanks for explaining. BTW: I was hoping to learn about his childhood. Again he's has a fantastic voice and kind of a haunting range of sounds. Strange thing is I didn't know much about Klaus in the 80s . l only came across Klaus when conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh played some of his music and sadily ridicuded him. His music is fantastic reminds me of my late sister Anne who sang Opera, a mezzo-soprano.. So it just brought back a lot of welcome and sad memories.. rest in peace both of them thanks again for your reply preciate it

Is there a version of this documentary with English as the primary language, without the German overlay? My German is not good enough to follow that very well, so an English overlay (or lacking the German overlay) would be helpful. But I'm glad to hear the German too. Maybe I can pick up a little from it. :)
