LOL yeah, Dinklebean (the guy usually leading the lines in this video) is *amazing* at accents, so he really gets into the spirit of things when the team countries change. It figures that cannons would be OP because there's no cavalry to counter them. Infantry have to bunch up to get decnt volley fire with their muskets, which makes them good targets for cannons like that. In the period it went cannons defeat infantry, cavalry defeat cannons, and infantry defeat cavalry, except if the cavalry catch them straggled out in a marching line and they can't form into a defensive square fast enough to stymie the cavalry. Horses don't like crashing into people, so they wouldn't charge into serried firing lines or a square formation unless there were gaps in it they could run through to get behind the infantrymen. It happened once at Waterloo that the French cavalry were able to destroy an infantry square, because one horse was shot dead while galloping towards the square before it could swerve off, and the dead horse smacked into several infantrymen knocking them over, and then the other horses charged through the gap allowing the cavalrymen to start killing infantry soldiers from behind. If the infantry in a square held their nerve, the cavalry just had to ride around them until they got other orders, getting shot at by the infantry as they rode by.

Well, if you have an interest in seeing what happens when artillery shells meat- i mean meet- humans, GarandThumb has a wonderful video about launching tank shells into ballistic dummies with Brandon Herrera. Oh and as for dodging, there's an old saying that you never hear the artillery shell that gets you. My uncle says that saying is BS though, he says they don't hear the shell cause no one can hear ANYTHING in or after war lmao
