Plenty of great information, nicely presented, and we can listen to it as many times as we need. Thank you. Did you know that zinc and copper are needed to produce the selenium enzyme that converts circulating T4 thyroxine into T3 thyroxine which is the gas pedal for DNA transcription in our cells? So any good thyroid booster product should contain zinc, copper, selenium and iodine to start with.

For zinc deficiency due to inadequate oral intake, a typical oral replacement dose is 1 to 2 mg/kg/day of elemental zinc. Resolution usually requires at least four to six weeks of therapy, depending on the etiology and severity. In some cases, it is necessary to co-administer copper to ensure that copper deficiency does not occur due to high zinc intake. These replacement doses are also appropriate for patients with underlying diseases that predispose to zinc deficiency, such as Crohn disease, cystic fibrosis, liver disease, or sickle cell disease.

@NootropicsExpert4 жыл бұрын
Ike, it depends on what type of zinc it is. Chances are you're not overdosing on zinc. But you need to take it with 2 mg copper daily. Because zinc reduces the amount of copper your body absorbs because copper competes with zinc to bind with metallothionein (binding protein that brings zinc into the cells).

I don’t remember you mentioning the absorption of Zinc Gluconate, is 50MG a day safe in your opinion and I have a copper 2MG that I am going to start taking. Thank you for your video and your help. 🙏
@NootropicsExpert3 жыл бұрын
Joe, the most important thing is the fine balance between zinc and copper. Because excess zinc will deplete copper. And you need copper to help transport zinc across cell walls. 50 mg zinc may be too much long-term. Best if you become familiar with the symptoms of zinc toxicity so you'll recognize the signs of using too much.

Hi this was very helpful; when balancing zinc w/ copper do you do it based on how much zinc you are taking or how much zinc is absorbed by type?

Genevieve, good question but the best we can do is for long-term zinc supplementation at the recommended dose we should be using no more than 2 grams of copper per day. That's any dose of zinc up to the maximum 30 mg per day.

This is what copper does in your brain and why you need it: nootropicsexpert.com/13-minerals-essential-for-the-optimized-brain/#copper. Excess copper is bad for you. And excess zinc depresses copper levels. Which is why there is 1.5 - 2 mg of copper in many zinc supplements. You need both copper and zinc. And while a few people are copper toxic it is more likely that most of us are deficient. We need copper. Just not a whole bunch of it.

Hi David. First, God Bless You 🙏🏻 Thank you so much for sharing all this wonderful and life changing information with us. I have Fibromyalgia and suffer from major depression, anxiety and insomnia on top of the major pain. Thanks to you you have literally bettered my life. I now take Lithium Orotate im on month 3...no more man made antidepressants which rarely worked anyways. Saying goodbye to wellbutrin was amazing! No more yucky side effects and weight gain. I take 5 mg lithium Orotate in the morning and in the evening. I am currently trying magnesium for sleep. Can I take zinc with these other 2 minerals? I take prescription vitamin d once a week. And, a b12 daily. I'm just so eeady to heal with minerals that God put on this earth for us and not have to rely on synthetic/man made chemicals known as prescription drugs. I have gained weight in the past year i really think my thyroid has just shut down. I have a physical scheduled for next month. What would you recommend for my chronic fatigue that comes along with my fibromyalgia? Again, I think you are just AMAZING!!!!!
@NootropicsExpert3 жыл бұрын
Tonya, fibromyalgia has been associated with low T3 which is one of the thyroid hormones. And can contribute to chronic fatigue. The only way to fix this is to get your thyroid levels back to optimal. Get a full thyroid panel done and pay close attention to Free T4 and Free T3. Ignore TSH because it does not tell you anything. This website was my bible when I was learning how to deal with hypothyroidism. And I highly recommend it: stopthethyroidmadness.com/recommended-labwork
