A tartan needs a story and the story of the Viking influence on the west coast of Scotland is a good one. My dad is from the West Coast of Scotland as are my mom's ancestors. My Norwegian friend told me that my family is just a bunch of shipwrecked Vikings 😉. My affinity for the ocean, telemark skiing and my Viking wife must be a cause of some recessive nordic DNA. The concept and pattern of this tartan is beckoning me to add this to my collection. I will tell my shield maiden that it's a nod to her heritage too. I should be able to pull this off - - wish me luck.

Watching this was enlightening and a great way to show the process of designing. I would like to see more of these. Also, maybe see a video on the set up and weaving of a tartan, then the finishing process and eventually the shipping, receiving and building of a kilt, all with the same tartan.

Love it! My mother's side is stuart of bute, with some loose connections to Somerled, so we love the norse/scots fusion themes! A tartan based on the Norse is an awesome idea, and you guys did a great job pulling it off! Slaìnte!

Interesting look at the process of designing a tartan especially incorporating meaning to the colors. Couldn't visualize how little changes made big differences before this video. I think it's a great design and will make beautiful kilts. Maybe someday I can get one in this tartan.

I just received my Nordic Heritage Tartan kilt from you guys. I love it. I have bought many SportKilts and I do like them. With that being said, I will be buying many more kilts from your shop. The craftsmanship on the kilt is instantly noticeable. In my opinion, your kilts are very sharp!

Beautiful tartan, and thank you for showing your thought process. We all greatly appreciate it. Couple questions/requests, 1. I would love to see pics/video of different pleating options. I'm thinking on the blue, bordered by red would be eye catching, but I'm not necessarily sold on it. Pleated to gold would be intriguing as well. (I'm sure these will come out in several months, after the cloth has arrived, at which point pre-order-ers can change/confirm how to pleat.) 2. While I would have loved to have seen the purple make it in, it just wouldn't jive with the end result, which is magnificent. But I was wondering, where have those purples shown up in existing tartans?

What I would love to see on your tartan designer is a realistic fabric feature. In other words of you where you can click on it and it would show you what the fabric would look like as closest possible to if it were real wool

Video guy: If you do a side shot of someone talking to the audience, then that person is no longer talking to the audience. He is talking off to the side (to someone else?). Otherwise, very well done, especially with the split screen! This is a BEAUTIFUL design! And, I have enough Nordic DNA to add this tartan to my personal wishlist. Great collaboration, fellas.

There is a Jewish tartan. This can be found at Claymore Import's in Scottsdale. It' a beautiful tartan and was considering getting a kippah to honor one of my friends who passed in 2022. It's a beautiful tartan that combines both the Israeli flag and Scottish saltire colors. It is actually kosher so it does feel a bit different than a non-kosher kilt. The kilt is produced by Lochcarran.

it needs green - they have lots of trees - its where all of the x-mas trees come from! from the neolithic pictographs Thor didn't have a Hammer, he had a Stone AX! the ancient Greeks didn't have the word 'blue' - that's why the ancient tales refer to "The Wine Dark Sea"!

Gonna be intentionally rude here: The Vikings weren't authentic, they stole most of their culture from the Celtic. They even changed Woden to Odin. Could they not pronounce ws? 😂
