What a professional Norman was, without breaking character Norman showed Anderson up for what he is. Norman had this quality in his films showing up characters like Anderson and winning the day. RIP Norman, modern showbiz is so far up itself it never gave you the respect you deserve.

Anderson cannot control anyone like this legend who simply owns the audience the moment he walks in. the first 2 minutes shows how inept Anderson really is.

Clive Anderson was the polar opposite of people like Graham Norton, who treats his guests with love and gets the best out of them that way. I loved when the Bee Gees stormed out.

Was lucky to meet norman after one of his shows in the mid 90s at york barbican centre, I think it was in 1995 with my dad, he was so nice to everyone and took time to have a chat with me about the square peg and my favourite the early bird... I wish my grandad was there to meet him as he got me into his films, people use the word legend for anyone these days but he's a hero to so many people... Thank you Sir Wisdom x
@gmaureen10 жыл бұрын
If anyone ever doubted Wisdom's genius this interview should lay it to rest. Despite Anderson's rude behavior, Wisdom stays in control which in turn makes Anderson look like a buffoon. I think the word nice was invented for Wisdom as he never seems to lose his ability to project that quality.

Never understood Clive Anderson’s appeal when I was young and he should have stayed as a barrister. Sir Norman should have had the whole show to himself to tell anything he thought of saying. His autobiography is amazing and I’ve always admired him and always will.

Unfortunately Clive Anderson, like Terry Wogan and Jonathan Ross, never made good interviewers as they wanted to be the centre of attention; Parkinson was the master as he hardly said anything. Norman Wisdom was such a great comedian he never allowed Anderson the upper hand.
@No-jp5mu3 жыл бұрын
Norman Wisdom was absolutely brilliant, but Clive Anderson just didn't appreciate having him there and should have let Norman do his thing from the very start of the interview and just rolled with it like any good presenter would have done

clive anderson's failing is that he fails to research/prep before the show and then uses the interview to gain info he should already know. If he prepped then he would be able to gently expand on such info and give the guest chance to talk freely. Michael Parkinson knew how to do this well,as can be seen in his 1970's shows. As for Woss he comes across as wanting to be his own guest!!!

Clive kept interrupting Norman. The show is about the person he invited on the programme. Not about Cive anderson. RUDE.

I wasn`t a fan of Clive Anderson. He wasn`t a good interviewer in my opinion, being so full of himself and always talking over the guests. The Bee Gees interview was the best example of his bombastic and deplorable rhetoric. The best thing I can say about the man is... I`m so glad he isn`t on television anymore.

Clive Anderson, worst interviewer ever. It's hard to know what his agenda is. He is rude, yes, but he's also completely artless . You don't have to lick your guests' arse, but a little respect would deliver a much better interview, from which EVERYONE would benefit, INCLUDING Mr Anderson.

The programme was called Clive Anderson Talks Back. The idiotic ‘premise’ was that Clive would get his celebrity guests on to the show and he would talk back and interrupt them with his particular brand of sarcastic smart arsery. After the Bee Gees debacle he never went back to TV and now in a similar fashion ruins Front Row, the otherwise excellent Saturday evening arts magazine show on BBC R4. He’s still as charmless, unfunny and disrespectful to his guests today. He and the powers that be don’t seem to grasp that he is always the least interesting person in the room and that cheap sarcasm is not wit.

It did happen with the Bee Gees back in 1997, you can see it on KZbin. But most guests have no problem. He just has a kinda sharp and caustic sense of humour, that's all. He's still at it today.
