So, while every cell DOES contain all the DNA needed to build a new bone, as you started, NL, not all of that DNA is actually active. Bits and pieces get "turned off" as cells become more specialized in the womb. So you can heal bone, but not regrow it from scratch, or even a significant amount. Some cells, like liver cells, retain more of those bits and pieces, hypothetically because they are less complex. This mechanism and specialization are necessary or we'd start to look really weird, as cells are constantly dying off and being replaced; the cells doing the replacing cannot be allowed to use the WHOLE code.

the liver has pseudo regeneration. it can regrow the entire liver from like a fourth of the whole thing, one time. the new liver doesn't retain the same structure, the blood vessels get moved around and the ducts and such, any more than the one time and it stops being functional. true regeneration like a lizards tail or starfish does not happen in humans anywhere. "true regeneration" meaning that it regrows exactly the same way as the original and can do it multiple times.
@foxboy644 жыл бұрын
the liver is also the only organ in the human body with pseudo regeneration. all other body parts scar, as in they replace the damaged tissue with collagen which does not retain any of the function of the original tissue, it just fills a hole. on the plus side, of all the organs to get any regeneration at all its pretty swell that the liver got it. considering how much humans like to abuse the poor thing.

@@brodylopa4184 from what i understand the lungs and pancreas are right behind the liver. but they cant "regrow" in the same way. i think. they can heal damaged tissue so long as the general structure still remains but, if you cut out half of a persons lung i don't believe it would regrow to fill the cavity. the liver does do that. in any case, im not a doctor.

My mum's a podiatrist so I've actually got an answer for this. When she was starting university, and had an aptitude for human bio, she literally just picked it because it was there. It had openings and she was in university. (This was about 30 years ago in Australia for a woman with 2 Italian immigrant parents for context). However her friend that she studied with was really interested in sport, and as a kid had a great experience with a podiatrist helping him with a foot injury while he was playing tennis or something, that inspired him to follow that line of work. Definetly not a flashy job, she works a lot with elderly, and it's not a healthy job because she spends a lot of time around foot dust, and it's not specialist money to a crazy degree, but she is able to work from home and has consistent, regular clients
@ChoiceBandAzu4 жыл бұрын
“Foot Dust” Please explain.
@CS07234 жыл бұрын
@@ChoiceBandAzu she has a lot of ins with old folks homes and retirement villages in the area, so she seems less instances of sportspeople with injuries, and more cases of elderly people with corns and nail issues. She has essentially a human safe drill, and spends time with most of her clients using said drill to cut back growths and tidy up nails. So the mask is maybe her most important tool. Not the most glamorous job, but her patients love her, especially since they are older. Come Christmas they show up 1 by 1 with a small gift of some sort, really sweet honestly

Man.. the NLSS needs (imo) a change in game variety. I find this golf game boring to watch, same with Rocket League. And I'm burned out on Fall Guys. I'm fine with having the golf game, cuz they can focus on having fun banter, and that's great, I just leave it in the background while I do something else, but I enjoy having one or two of the games fun to watch too. I miss drawful and the tabletop games. I still wish they had played Four Souls more than like twice 😕 PS. Don't get me wrong, I still love the crew and the NLSS, and I've been a fan for years.
