Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Not as good as the book, but still worth watching.

I love the exchanges with Lestrade and Holmes, they are far too amusing with their irritation to each other.

"Could it be that for once Lestrade is on the right track?" Lol, tone of disbelief. XD

I how Holmes just ATTACKS the floor. XD Lestrade: My experts made out footmarks of both men on the carpets. Holmes: *Drops down as if to interrogate the floor!* "Awright, floor, start talking!"

@illbetilbake Oh, I would hardly call it contempt. They get on each others nerves a great deal, granted (and I love it when they do), but I always believed that under all the snarky quips as to each other's character and work method, there was a deep vein of respect. I think SIXN perfectly exemplifies this. Although I will agree that it's amusing how Holmes and Lestrade never disguise their annoyance. :D

Lestrade: "No doubt you brought your glass with you" :-))) Poor Holmes

Inspectors from The Scottland Yard in late XIX century are comparable to medieval assholes in forensic matters. Just look at the Jack the Ripper case, that would be impossible to be unsolved with forensic science, pieces of evidence where all over the place. But assholes from the Yard just let him get away after he brutally slaughtered 5 women. If Holmes was a real character he would have caught that killer´ass.

I know! When he turned back around I thought he was going say "Ima chargin mai lazar!" Which, in my opinion would have been quite epic for 19th century London.

In my opinion, this was actually better than the book (the expanded content make the story much more concrete)

+Oculas2003 NOT a book but a story. And there is not so much content added as directorial changes (Watson accompanies Holmes in his first visit of exploration; the fire is shown first (not described later). These were changes deemed necessary by the directors, and I think they were correct. What makes this series is: 1) fine acting. Not just Brett (I think his Watson here is better than Brett) but the cast overall. Lestrade is superb, for instance. 2) fine attention to the Victorian sets, including horse manure in the streets. 3) good writing. Overall a quality product that is indeed better than the writing in the original story.
