its so weird that the time skip in the beta was 10 years when in the release its 20 makes more sense to have the beta be 20 since the world is more fucked up as in release it just looks like the combine were only there for 1 year

Honestly the events between half-life and half-life 2 have always been strange to me, the citadel only started construction 5 years before the events of half-life 2, the combine would already be in control of earth for 15 years. Seems really strange to me that there main base of operations is built so late in the storyline. The retail does indeed look like they just started there transformation and occupation of earth.

I feel like this doesn't fit with G-man's speech. It feels like he's struggling with words, and just like can't say what he's trying to say. The speech in the retail is better IMO.
