For me it seems like when the Elktaur split in half, everything about him split. The Elk half got the actual love for the woman, but the human half got the desire and drive. The human part got cruelty, and the elk half only knew cruelty from the general's hands, and then turned cruel out of desperation to find acceptance and family. Neither half are fully good or bad, but they did get uneven parts of a whole person. The elk got joys of simple pleasures, willingness to compromise, the longing for acceptance, while the general got ambition, pride, and self preservation. One half cannot be whole without the other, and by being separate unwittingly caused so many victims. It's actually a great look at how the mind and even society will try to suppress "weaker emotions" to favor the strong and idealistic. The heroic, strong, driven, and motivating general seems like he'd be a great guy, but then under that is a need to keep his dark secret under lock and key (literally in this case), and pushes away his, in his opinion, less than perfect half. Wrongfully assuming that he doesn't need that half of himself and rejects it in favor to stay in the society that has finally accepted him, but at the cost of half of himself.

It really shows how self-hate can destroy you and your relationships with the people around you. We all love the whole version of the elktaur; the audience already found him sympathetic and endearing oh, and it's likely that without this split he would have won This Woman's affections. I saw a Centaur World Fan post that says that this exemplifies how you can't love others if you don't love yourself, and with this I finally understand what this phrase means. You can have love for others, but unless you love yourself, your self-hating actions will sabotage your relationships and prevent yourself from loving them in a healthy way.

@@Fairygoblet "You can't take care of anyone if you can't take care of yourself" is something my mom used to say to me. And it really resonated with me watching the Elktaur's story. To see that self hate and self destruction, that was caused by a society and people that deemed him to be unfit, and lesser. He seemed to not have was Horse has, a supportive group who are there to listen and help through the darkest times. Even Ched, the most antagonistic of the group towards Horse, doesn't want to see her hurt and is willing to put aside his own prejudice to care for her in his own way. Especially after she states that she will never treat him like the horsetaurs did. Because she can see and understand it was wrong and that he was hurt. And he DID change how he treated her. Watching back through, Ched was more helpful and less mean towards horse in the final episodes. Not going out of his way to get a rise out of her, but instead challenge her because he knows she's stubborn. "You need a different point of view" and he literally had a couple albatrosstaurs pick her and Wamawink up to show what he sees. It seems like either the Elktaur didn't have a supportive team, or he pushed them away because he wanted to favor the company of humans. It's a sad look at both a society view and a personal one, the damage that the lack of acceptance can really do. We saw that in his story, pretty early on that with just a chance of being somewhat accepted by being thrown a thank you party, that he was willing to go through self mutilation to try and fit in among humans more. This was a BIG warning sign, but sadly no one seemed to really catch it, and used the ignorance of the woman to lie where his antlers went. Honestly this show is so smart.

I personally think that the Elk and General didn’t really inherit anything from their prime form. Elktaur didn’t think things through with the separation of his halves. The General and the Elk wants the same thing, but only the General got what he wanted while the Elk is left with nothing. The General lacked empathy for his other half as he got what he wanted and does not want to lose it by helping the Elk. Elk’s worries is no longer the General’s concern.

When woman was about to hit the elktaur with the key I was SURE the show was gonna pull the cliche all kids show pull where the villain doesn’t actually die and turns into a good guy- But NO. Omg the amount of shows that ended with the bad guy turning ‘good’ and being forgiven for everything, even mass murder. I mean it’s a sweet ending but it throws me off. I’m glad they did kill him, because it’s good for people to know that things like murder or in this case literal genocide are never so easily forgiven. Even though shows like this are for kids, the way they can so easily turn so dark and can contain messages relating to such depressing contexts always amazes me.

I feel like a lot of people don’t understand that if elk became human instead nothing would have changed because they’re the same person just split in two and put in different circumstances the nowhere king is a tragedy because his self hatred seeped into every corner of his life something that you would think would be confined to himself hurt so many people and the worst part is he separated because he thought woman couldn’t love him for who he was but that wasn’t the case and she even told him herself she would have loved him elktaur did this to himself all because he couldn’t accept himself quite literally locking away the part of him that he hated

I felt pity for the elk half because I understood what he did and half of it was unforgivable. This is my opinion so you don't have to agree with me. For starters, I don't think the elktaur wasn't trying to be a "bad guy" in this story. Throughout episode 8, he has trouble with people accepting him and HIM accepting himself. That is the reason why he goes to great lengths to change himself by splitting himself into two. However, during the memory, all his plan wasn't what he had in mind. What's unforgivable was, he didn't have to create the minotaurs and kill innocent lives. What he could have been done in this story is that if he tried to confess to the woman for accepting who he was maybe this problem would be fixed. In the end, it was tragically sad.
@parisheidi3119
@parisheidi3119 2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure he did confess to the women. She's the one who released the elk from his 10 year imprisonment. But she pushed him away in the end he felt like he had nothing that he was nothing and had nowhere to belong. He made the minotaur in a desperate attempt at having a family, I think after that his mind melted away and he was nothing more but resentment and hate. I think the show did a good job making us feel for the elk half but also making his death feel deserved in the end. Now the general there's little for him. Like we get to see he's the part that desperately wanted to be human and wanted to be with the women. But he was willing to do anything from the truth getting out, hence the reason he locked the elk away. If the general had relised his mistake and killed the nowhere king sacrificing himself that would have been a diffrent story. But he selfishly started a war in an attempt to keep himself alive. Did the nowhere king start the war or was it rhe general? Did the nowhere king just hate everyone for what happend to him and he wanted to destroy everything? Or did the general use the appearance of the nowhere king and the minotaur to strike fear into the masses and they were the first to attack Turing the knowwhere king and the minotaur violent? In the end the Elktaur is really to blame for all of it. He's insecurity and doubts created to creatures filled with resentment and hate for one another .

In the Nowhere King's origin in the flashback scene back when he was a centaur, who was in love with this woman and though he could seperate himself so he could be human but things didn't turn out as he plans. So I guess the General is the true villian in this series all along.

I agree that the General is a jerk and his actions towards the Elk are really messed up, but the Elk kidnapped people and animals and changed them into minotaurs against their will. The Elk/Nowhere King also waged war on both Centaurworld and the human world killing countless innocent beings. In a sense the General is the lesser of two evils.

Man this backstory was very interesting and tragic. Really like how both the Elk and the General are connected. If one of them dies the other dies. Kind of like the Skeksis and UrRus from Dark Crystal. As bad as the General was, his crimes and actions are minor compared to what the Elk/Nowhere King did. The Elk kidnapped several humans and animals turning them into minotaurs against their wills. At first he was trying to make a family for himself so he would have some place to belong to, but the Elk became insane and angry and set his new army out upon both Centaurworld and the human world killing who knows how many innocent beings in both worlds. The General wronged both the Elk and Rider, but the Elk/Nowhere King destroyed and wrecked many lives.
@lordbiscuitthetossable5352
@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 2 жыл бұрын
That's the thing though; they are both the same person but different circumstances. The General got the power fantasy he always wanted; the woman, adoration, and even though he knew precisely how to undo the Nowhere King (his life is bound to it and visa versa, so literally all he had to do was take responsibility for his own actions) he didn't. He even killed Rider who was perfectly willing to do it so that ultimately he could let it roam free and so that he wouldn't have to personally sacrifice himself. Even in his speeches he doesn't show an ounce of regret for the actions that had lead to this point. In contrast the Elk had nothing, was imprisoned and rejected for being the discarded half, thus eventually broke. His monstrous actions originating from a point where he truly didn't belong anywhere. Thus really the story is how self neglect can completely destroy one's self. Both were extremely wicked creatures, but I honestly felt for the Nowhere King more as while his actions were terrible; I understood the hollow, wretched emptiness that lead to that decision. The General could've stopped all that madness at any time, but that would've meant accepting the half he had so long rejected, and I imagine there's no shortage of sons and daughters he would've fed to that thing to keep it at bay.

@@kneelessnightcat9164 the problem is there needs to be a balance. I think it was just too much of the "silly" stuff and after a while I just started skipping through it to get to the story parts.
