Ribosomes are assembled in the cytoplasm, not the nucleolus. The nucleolus produces ribosomal subunits, but these must be exported into the cytoplasm through nuclear pores in order to be assembled in the cytoplasm into fully functioning ribosomes.

Christie Lovat yes this is what I read in my textbook as well. Is he wrong or are there different circumstances in which some ribosomes are manufactured inside the nucleus? Please answer

I just looked this up on Google - "The nucleolus makes ribosomal subunits from proteins and ribosomal RNA, also known as rRNA. It then sends the subunits out to the rest of the cell where they combine into complete ribosomes. Ribosomes make proteins; therefore, the nucleolus plays a vital role in making proteins in the cell." So I think he got ribosomal subunits confused with ribosomes.

Very well explained, it would have been good though if you had explained what are the substances and molecules that interact with the nucleus such as CO2, Oxygen among other bunch of stuff that i'm actually looking for.

BlackhawkX02 CO2 and Oxygen, do not interact with the nucleus. Doing so will oxidize the DNA. The only reason it’s safe in the body is because Oxygen and CO2 are either being carried by globular proteins or ions (only CO2 which is Bicarbonate). When it enters the cell it will be transported in vesicles and used for whatever is required.

Looking at the nucleus, you can see it is enclosed by a membrane . We say that the nucleus is compartmentalized because it is separated from the other organelles by the membranes.

The continual verbal mishaps made this video one of the harder ones to watch from Khan Academy. I homeschool and use KA on a daily basis, but this particular video leans towards a poorer quality because of the man speaking. Please replace this with a more eloquent lecturer.
