The ratings are tanking and all anyone wants to see is Jokic: 1. Get the same treatment other stars in the league get vis-a-vis free throws (he'd probably average 33 points without taking anymore shots) 2. Play with at least one more competent NBA player, preferably an athletic wing so we can see some amazing passes and cuts and dunks and really invigorate this by-the-numbers slop we've been seeing the last few years. I don't remember a single thing from the last playoffs besides Luka's game winner on Gobert, but I still remember the entire championship series, almost play by play, where the Mavs showed Lebron what real basketball is And yet here we are, Jokic is breaking every record ever conceived and there is a high chance he doesn't even get the MVP because the nuggets will be the 8 seed or something.

@@urbaindelva7869 Aaron Gordon was barely a contender starting level role player during their championship run, and he's fallen off a cliff since then. I'm talking about an all-star level guy. The Celtics have Brown and Tatum in the equivalent postitions. Just imagine what jokic could do with either of them. The mavs performance had to do with playing appealing, team oriented basketball and not trying to shoot a three or cheat a free throw in every single possession, like we're seeing these days. There is a reason why the NBA rankings are plummetting and it's how shit defence is regulated and officiated and that every single player not named Steph is jacking up threes instead of doing literally anything else. Jokic plays versatile, team oriented ball and I think it's what most people want. Give him a high flyer that can also score and you get showtime.

I feel like everyone is always undervaluing just how much they lost with KCP. It felt that way here too with the moment you said "the big 4" KCP was THE guy on the lineup that bought in defensively, he was one of the few people willing to take as many 3s as they needed on any given night. His place on that team was way bigger and more impactful than just his theoretical skill level. His fit was perfect and exactly what they needed, he was alot of what made this team great and I knew the moment I saw he went to the Magic that this was about to be a bad year for Denver.
@vlada2 күн бұрын
You have selective memory, KCP was great at covering the shift guards and screen used like Steph and Kyrie. He got destroyed in playoffs last season vs Wolves and Ant/Nickeil and the previous year even worse vs Booker. He has problems with strong guards like Luka. Brauns offense is way better (Kcp never finishes at rim) and the defence while different is almost the same. The problem is they replaced KCP with Braun very well but they didn't replace Braun's contribution and sometimes they'd have both on the court.
@skycat27562 күн бұрын
@ I’m not saying he was perfect, and if you’re main point is that he wasn’t good enough to consistently cover some of the absolute best offensive players in the league, go off, but almost nobody covers them well consistently. Not every opponent is going to be a favorable matchup for everyone, and I am not gonna hold it against anyone to not be able to stop Ant, Luka or Booker because that is a near impossible ask on a consistent basis. And I never discredit Braun, I think he is incredible, so you don’t need to justify his jump to me, though he doesn’t fill everything they lost with KCP, but he is doing his best and one of the bright spots of the team’s chances going forward

@@yajeel AGREED! Read this in full if you want to know where the real issue stems from: A few years back, I stated the following and was told that I was wrong. I stated that the Nuggets should have Kept their draft pick in Donovan Mitchell instead of trading him to the Jazz... People told me I was wrong because we have Murray... Cool! we are seeing how that is working out. I told them that we should have traded MPJ for Demar DeRozan when he was on the Spurs Roster and the Spurs were looking at moving him. I was told that MPJ was "Younger and had more potential". Okay cool! Then I stated that KCP and Brown were more important than MPJ and we needed to find a way to move MPJ and keep KCP and Brown. People kept telling me that would be a mistake because MPJ could become a star! The issue on this team is MPJ is overpaid! YES Murray is overpaid too, but MPJ is really overpaid and has prevented the Nuggets from getting the pieces that are needed (or keeping the pieces from that Championship team). I don't care about his effort, he's still a defensive liability! yes, he has gotten better, but better isn't cutting it. MPJ's shot selection is frustrating so is him coming off the dribble and that's always been the case. He isn't consistent and even when it looks like he is scoring a ton of points, it's due to the fact that other players on the team are scoring and having an impact so he is more open. The big 3 are Jokic, AG and Murray. It's sad that Murray is only a big 3 in clutch moments against subpar teams, but it is what it is! Murray is also overpaid, but over the years, he's produced more than MPJ.

Glad Russ had a relatively efficient night, so people cant use this as ammo. Obviously, it’s the fault of *everybody* on this team not named Nikola Jokic-Russ doesn’t exactly help the spacing problem-but he shot 3/6 from the field and had 12 assists on just two turnovers, as well as four steals.
@vlada2 күн бұрын
Sorry but Russ has sucked at the one job he had to do this season: fix the nuggets biggest problem which are the non Jokić mins. I don't want to hear how he plays well with Jokić because everyone plays well with him. The offence is good whether it's Russ or Justin Holiday last year. He was brought so Russ could be Russ during the time Jokić sits. And he has sucked. It's as bad as last year and the last 5yrs. If the non Jokić mins arnt fixed, there is zero chance.

There’s not a single player not named Jokic that could fix the non-Jokic minutes. Julian Strawther is still as streaky as ever, Jamaal Murray can’t coexist with Russ without Jokic on the floor because he’s not a plus playmaker and isn’t a good scorer right now, Aaron Gordon would be able to play some non-Jokic minutes and having a dunker spot and lob guy would greatly help Russ but AG’s been injured all year, MPJ can also play non-Jokic minutes but is a liability on defense and hasn’t been a super reliable shooter this year, Christian Braun is a good cutter and has been shooting the ball efficiently but not on good volume so he doesn’t help much with spacing, Dario Saric is shit, and Nnaji is shit.

We got a serviceable backup at the point in Russ, but I would maje the play for Lopez from the Bucks and make that play hard. As a Nuggets fan i agree with this video 100%. I would just put about 75% of player blame purely on Jamal. Mal in the playoffs last year to the olympics to this entire season just looks like he doesn't give a shit. He doesn't care on defense and on offense just looks out of shape and whiney. When he just signed a big contract it looks like he would rather just kick the feet up and cash checks then actually play and its infuriating. This attitude also then is like a disease, when the second highest paid player on the team is doing it, others start doing it too and Jamal hasn't shown a sign of actually caring yet. If he doesn't step up and give his balls a tug then we are fucked.
