I’m not a CA, I’m an AGA and also with saica, my opinion is that maths core in high school should be promoted and support for this subject be intensified as this is the biggest hurdle to becoming a CA. You get cut out the CA stream before you even know what it is by not doing maths core or attaining a sub par mark in it. English and maths marks are the key to getting a good undergrad.

There's still 3 times more Black candidates than Coloured candidates, there are also more Black female CA's than there are Coloured and Indian CA's combined. (7K Black, 6K Indian, 3K Coloured, 22K White) Source, SAICA 2021 membership web stats.

Remove the teaching of all technical duties accountants perform from university syllabus, since industry 4.0 is already automating them. If this can be done, I promise you that the number of accountants in this country will more than quadruple in less than a decade

It is so sad and painful that in my life time I am witnessing black faces legitimizing the legacy of previous oppressive regimes. People must stop glorifying chartered accountants, that is silly. We need more engineers and scientists as a country. IRBA must be separated from SAICA so that IRBA becomes a truly independent organ of state. The triumvirate alliance between the Department of Higher Education, IRBA and SAICA should be reviewed for lack of legality in terms of public law.
