So the deal with Reznov is tricky. Sometimes Mason sees himself as Reznov and sometimes his brain sees other people as Reznov. It’s a coping mechanism that he has when he is in extra stressful situations. But here is the thing, Reznov is actually still alive. There is a computer in the BO1 menu that has Hudson’s Pentagon email on it, and he gets one from Reznov calling himself ‘John Trent’ implying the Reznov works in the Pentagon now. He talks about the Vorkuta escape and that if Hudson doesn’t act soon, Mason will kill Kennedy.

The strike missions do in fact affect the story! They have a pretty substantial impact on how things turn out. Likewise, you can sometimes find side objectives in certain missions (like Time and Fate) that can also change things.

About the Strike Force missions, since you're playing on an easier difficulty, it could be easier to simply directly control the soldiers and the other units, using the Tactical View only to switch from one unit to the other across the map!

GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas are all loosely connected (no spoilers!), so playing them in order of release makes for a fun and cohesive experience. The trilogy feels like an anthology series in terms of setting and main narrative, but it cleverly ties into past games in unique and unexpected ways. Also, I recommend checking the settings to ensure the classic lighting (a newly added feature) is turned on. From my understanding, it should be enabled by default. This feature makes the games look closer in tone to their PS2 counterparts, giving each title its own unique identity, something that was lost in the original Definitive Edition, where they all shared the same lighting, tone, and color grading. With the classic lighting each game has it's own visual style and it just completes the experience.

Also, switch weapon targeting controls to classic. The new definitive edition targeting controls are really janky and inconsistent in San Andreas in particular.

Time and Fate is one of my favorite missions from the series, even though I prefer the more careful and tactical engagements than those endless enemies being thrown at you 😁 1:11:56 "This is your only warning! There's an obtainable sword that you missed before getting on the horse for the first time. You also could have gotten mortar rounds after exiting the base as well as anti tank mines at the first weapons cache

Edit: Strike Force missions are optional, but important for a reason. The mission where you play as Menendez has to be one of my favorites in Black Ops 2. You feel almost invincible. Ofcourse, getting to ride a horse was pretty hype too.

Fun fact: The song that’s playing when Menendez is with his sister (Niño Precioso) is actually him/Voice actor singing. Also quick tip: When using shotguns at close quarters, you can shoot without aiming. Aiming down kind of slows you down by a second. (QuickDraw & Long barrel attachment)
