In conjunction with Plastic Free July 2024, I am very excited to release 'The Nurdle Song', written with my good friends Katie Herbst and Anna van Riel Music.
A nurdle is a tiny plastic kernel that all plastic are made from.
So often nurdles end up in our oceans, not-to-mention the bottles, bags, cling wrap and other items that are made from nurdles.
This Plastic Free July see how you can reduce your use of single-use plastic items.
Here's how:
REFUSE- say no to single-use items
REDUCE- take less of what you can when it comes to single-use plastics
REUSE- reusable cups, bottles, beeswax wraps, straws are the answer
REHOME- find a new home for items you no longer use
RECYCLE- rinse, recycle and repeat
ROT- find a compost to put food and green waste in for the worms
THE NURDLE SONG (2024)
There was turtle.
Her name was Myrtle
She had a hurdle to get over.
(What’s the hurdle)
She’s infertile, (Awww, so infertile).
I’ll tell you why (Why)
It’s because she ate a nurdle
(What’s a nurdle)
It’s a little plastic kernel
And it’s hurtin’ all the turtles
There was a man, (Ooooh)
His name was Stan (Stan?)
He drove a van (he did?)
That was full of plastic nurdles
From the factory
(Oh, unsatisfactory)
He has a history
Of plastic manufactory
Using nurdles that hurt turtles
So that he can make a bottle
Just for you
And then a shark ate the turtle
And a whale ate the shark
And that means they all ate the nurdle
The little plastic kernel
It’s a-churnin’ in the turtle,
With the whale who ate the shark
Ain’t that absurdle?
So, what to do (do).
It’s up to you (you)
To be the change (Be the change)
You don’t have to buy
The plastic made from nurdles
(Let’s save the turtle )
Let’s help old Myrtle
With her hurdle, she’s infertile
But she doesn’t have to be
It’s up to you and me
Let’s save the turtles (and the sharks and the whales) (Don’t buy from Stan)
