On the list of the best artist of a great outstanding group that reach the heights of the music business. The O Jays--- Have proven themselves as one of the best in the world of R&B Music and some Gospel music as well. They hit the mark at 199% in music.

You got that right. The Mighty O'Jays go back with me as a kid in the early to mid 70's, and I must admit that I am one who has taken their greatness for granted. I always assumed that whatever music they created was going to meet that gold standard....and it did. Today, I go see them whenever they are in town and just admire what you call that "untouchable" greatness.

The Mighty O'Jays.. it don't get no better I've seen them plenty of times over the years starting in 1974,( i was 18 yrs old)while William Powell was still in the group, saw them 2 yrs later in'76..William had been replaced by Sammy Strain, (William Powell died shortly afterwards)..the 0'jays have continued live dances over the years I still love watching them perform just recently saw them perform along Gladys Knight at Coachman Park in St . Pete fla. I will admit that Eddies voice starting to sound a little strain, he did have problems holding notes that particular night, still love'em tho. they will always be the Mighty O'Jays to me....

This is the lineup I saw in St Pete Florida around 95-96 at Vinoy Park. It was a magical night in March and Spring Training for St. Louis Cardinal baseball was going on. Ozzie Smith was there that night at the park with his family. The OJays never did Love Train that night but it was ok cause they did one of the most mellow sets I've ever seen. I remember that night as one of the greatest concerts I've ever experienced.

It like their music is happy, inspirational and sad at the same time. Happy because it creates and brings back so many memories of house parties / BBqs / Backyard parties/block parties and visions of older relatives that use to dance to their favorite Ojays songs. Memeories of high school sweethearts and girlfirends. Memories of "the one that got away". Then, sad when you think about all your relatives that loved their music that have passed away since the 70's - You know those relatives that had real character and intergrity - that always said something encouraging to you and slipped you a dollar when they saw you. Sad when you think of Levert and his sons - its pain ,hurt and emotional music. Sad because you know times will not be the same again. Let their music inspire you to be the best you can be and remove hate from your heart. Really focus on loving yourself. If you can love yourself you can love anyone else.
