The "why don't they..." line is one that constantly got me into trouble in my philosophy classes. Chemists personify molecules and elements constantly. "Hydrogen *wants* to share its electrons..." is a perfectly normal thing for us to say. Philosophy professors get irked by that. 😁

If you ever have a chance to piddle around in a lab there at the university, take the "white stone" silver chloride and dissolve it in concentrated ammonia. When you add copper to the solution, you'll get the most beautiful shade of blue and you'll precipitate pure silver. The blue color is actually produced by solvated electrons, so what you're seeing is the closest the human eye can come to experiencing an actual interaction with a subatomic particle. It's an absolutely magical experience.

Now this is where the rubber meets the road! As much as I appreciate your erudite summaries of the scholarship that's available (and not exactly easy to access) you are really "adding value" when you bring us the untranslated and otherwise extremely esoteric stuff. This will help me with a long neglected project of studying the influence of Agrippa on the English alchemist Thomas Vaughan, who made a proto feminist argument when he designed a sort of "sigil" (if you'll forgive me) combining his and his wife Rebecca's initials to indicate that his alchemical findings were her intellectual property as well

Dr Justin Sledge! This discovery and investigative rigorous unveiling of Agrippa's treatise on Alchemy is what distinguishes Esoterica in matters that would be overlooked! And the Agrippa series continues to upend my perception of this student of Trithemius (?) and contemporary (?) of Dee and foundational source for the current milieu of magick and esotericism and occultism... and Pico aka Becky always occurs alongside Marsilio Ficino in my algorithmic finds...not to be confused with Giambattista della Porta...I would say fire and brimstone would be the sulfur, so asking Big Red/Ole Horned checks out. And, check this out, Dr Sledge: On rigorous modern physics content creator Anton Petrov's channel, a recent episode on how earthquakes form golden nuggets inside quartz! @@TheEsotericaChannel art imitates life imitates art from helicopters and dragonflies to natural camouflage and evolution in real time with Darwin's Finches...it seems the culmination in alchemy would then be "nucular" physics in emulating on earth starbirth with such power. I mean, art can't exist in a void apart from nature, no? Agrippa's assertions of reality continually frustrate me in what he believes can change and what cannot change! In my limited learning of him, he seems more contradictory than Aristotle...along with his literalism that rivals the assertions by Aristotle on the nature of nature. Is this why Alchemy is reinterpreted nowadays in the spiritual sense? Sure, unlike Kelly, he was no charlatan in that specific milieu. So if I'm recalling accurately, Paracelsus was hermaphrodite?

@@TheEsotericaChannel wouldn't that be an exemplary plus for literal alchemists on the prowess of actual physical transmutation? No man-made processes of art and science can ever exist without the examples first in nature and unexpected natural processes. Rather than forgoing inspiration at the very least, wouldn't that lend credibility and legitimacy as to viability of the physical pursuit of transmuting metals into gold and not swap it under fool's gold? Alchemy is a frustrating branch of esotericism when it's not applied in the allegorical symbolic archetypal secret "symbological" sense that tends to actually light the fire of the imagination rather than relegating to the dusty tome section of lost causes and dead-end pursuits "back then." Without the landmines of stepping into mudpies of New Age-y assertions, wouldn't that somehow lend legitimacy to alchemy and esotericism up to when Newton, the premiere physicist, studied Alchemy himself with even more volumes on it than on materialist physics? 🌌 🌞 🔥 🔨 🪨

As someone with no alchemical knowledge but a modest degree of chemistry learning, I find it incredible how much scientific fact I hear in his descriptions of his findings. Conservation of mass, the relative stability/instability of different elements, innate forces in all materials, etc. I spend my time straddling the worlds of traditional Indigenous wisdom and western science, usually with the task of translating teachings into language scientists will understand and respect, and I got a great sense of familiarity in watching this with regards to an experiment/observation approach to discovering truth that works within a larger spiritual framework rather than divorcing itself from the metaphysical. I'm a great believer in the idea that there are many paths to the same destination when it comes to seeking "The Truth" of the universe, and it's really cool to see that kind of holistic approach originate in the western world.

My interests lie within the vocal areas of magical incantations; for instance, how the words are formed and what kinds of emotions are contained within the pockets of verbal expression that may have a physiological, or even kinetic effect on the physical world. Like, how the use of the mouth, the breathe that is used along side mental intention, how that may have an actual effect, that seems like magic. 😊

It is documented that certain keys in music cause similar emotional reactions in people regardless of their culture. I believe that language probably started as singing - representing specific emotions by sound and mimicking the voices of other animals - It has been proposed that the mirror neuron system supports the ability to imitate in humans. (The begining of language started about 200k years ago if speculations are right). We know about neolithic tribes which still use similar ways to communicate, but why certian sylllables became words used today is unknown. It was probably "random cultural evolution" - intuitive not intelectual process, thats why people created so many different languages which are incomprehensible to each-other, but possible to translate (in most cases). What do you think?
