Limited time! Go to NordVPN.com/th... or use code THETAKE to get 70% off a 3 year plan plus 1 additional month free. | The Office’s Kelly Kapoor knows how to get what she wants. She exhibits all of the classic traits of a manipulator, yet despite her untrustworthiness and underhandedness, she’s also one of the series’s most likable characters. There’s just something endearing, even relatable about Kelly’s desperation to be recognized and loved. What is it about Kelly Kapoor that makes her coworkers-and the audience-excuse her manipulative behavior and even embrace it? Here’s our Take on what makes Kelly such a master of manipulation, and why we end up giving her the attention and affection she demands-even if we know we’re being played. @@lucashenderson2775 Karen wasn't ever in the wrong. It was an issue that Jim needed to sort out, and the writers had him choose with his heart. I will say that it was bold of Karen to take that leap of faith in the first place though, as NYC was nearby and she apparently had friends there (unless they moved to NY after she moved to Scranton).

I always laugh at Kelly because I saw her as someone who WANTS to be a master manipulator like Regina George but is actually just a normal girl who’s attempts at being that character trope completely backfire. That’s how most teenage girls realize that romcoms aren’t realistic & being yourself wins out. I loved Kelly because I could see myself in her of how I was at 14 & the way my mind still sometimes thinks as an adult before I realize I’m being “crazy.” She & Ryan deserve each other because she thinks she’s a master manipulator but isn’t & he thinks he’s a genius, intellectual ~wunderkind~ but actually isn’t either! But I still enjoyed this take as always!

It is often misinterpreted- he's saying you should want to be feared AND loved, just that if you have to pick, fear comes first- but he also says it's important not to be hated. It isn't as sinister as it sounds, he isn't saying you should inspire fear by randomly killing people, more than people should fear you if they take the piss and try to usurp your position.

Kelly is the best kind of “mean girl” in that she’s loyal and nice to her friends but it’s game over as soon as you hurt her or someone she loves. I love how she uses her powers for good by helping Erin out when she’s mean to Jessica. Also that scene with Kevin isn’t as mean as it seems, if you see the full clip, Kelly ends up agreeing to let Kevin hold the camera for their music video shoot rather than excluding him entirely.

People always coddle and enable pathetic narcissists. But in a fictional show, with the added element of the faux-documentary, she confessed all her intentions and games. In fiction, it’s ok to side with someone doing deplorable things. In real life, they charm, but they’re life ruiningz

I think an entire subtext on her characterization has been missed by this take. While its true that she is obsessed with pop culture, shallow and emulating an entitled mean teenager, what makes this character all the more hilarious is that all of this is coming from a dark skin, sized Indian woman. It's almost like she is a satirical take on the rich shallow white girl.

Why I like kelly: 1. She's really friendly to Erin when micheal and others disrespect her for no reason. 2. She's confident and funny, unlike other secondary characters like her bf and moses 3. She doesn't care what others think of her/ has her own life, BUT doesn't isolate herself 4. She never sets out to hurt anyone

what I got from her character was that Kelly treats the office like she's still in high school. she minds her own business and doesn't care so long as she's dating one of the attractive people (Ryan) or one of the people who is higher up in the social ranks of the office (Daryl). she also thrives on drama, whenever there is the slightest bit of drama in the office she finally emerges from the back room and decides to squeeze every bit of excitement she can from it.
