my only real problem with eternals is that it was bloated with too many characters and only, like, two of them actually went through impactful and poignant character development. one of those being the mutant dude, who got killed off for no fucking reason. he was shaping up to be such a compelling villain and then they just beat his ass and shoved him to the side in favor of the celestials?? the writing for eternals is shit ass. as an editorial freelancer and writer myself i could point out the loose ends and unnecessary character flaws in every single character to an extent that there really wasn't anything ELSE to point out. i seriously don't understand how half of the stuff in that movie made it past pre-production. it was SUCH a good concept, had SUCH a cool aesthetic to its magic and had SUCH potential for ushering the celestials into the MCU in a really interesting way. But nope! we got terrible writing covered by a thin veneer of beautiful visuals and a would-be compelling antagonist thrown to the wayside. the fights look awesome, the choreography is fucking sick, some of the characters are funny (although it's to their detriment character-wise), and the lore itself that they put in place to make this movie was REALLY interesting. but the execution of the characters themselves was just so botched! and in a movie where your cast includes such a large roster of characters, realistic growth, development, and connected plotlines that get tied off at the end are all SUPER important. they just didn't pull through with any of that. p much agree with every single other placement tho.

Saying that you love Homecoming for being a John Hughes movie but not liking Far From Home for having a similar Eurotrip theme is kinda wild. So is you not liking No Way Home. Even if you take away the notolgia stuff from previous actors it still is a compelling story for Tom's Spidey and has actual stakes, consequences, and character growth. Getting to see him, Tobey, and Andrew was also an amazing thing for how much it seemed to not be possible before. It's simply an event like Infinity War was. Not liking Doc Strange 2 I can understand (I think it's really solid and overhated) but saying it's worse than the Thors and Iron Man 2 is also a big yikes.

Look I only saw Eternals once, but from what I remember it had the most predictable and boring plot. I called the "twist" so early. For me the characters were pretty boring and lets not mention the completely useless side story of the deviants that had 0 impact on the story and really felt shoehorned in for who knows what reason.
